I won,in a lonely sort of way.Can't wait to open this one up to 2 3/4.Gotta find a period pad to put on it.Anybody have one laying around?Maybe Bobski will send me a brick,I'll fit that on her[:D]

Well it's kind of like getting her pregnant. You want it at the moment. Fortunately you did not have to compete for her.

Congratulation's! An 1897 in a 16 gauge is a fine choice. Very discerning tastes.

This will be the 10th or 11th 16 97 I've owned.It will join the other 2 that I've kept and in early Nov.I will present it to a 15 year old young man that comes out from Wis. to pheasant hunt with his dad and some friends(After I confirm it it 100% mechanically functional).He came last year and I was completely impressed with his attitude and ability.I believe that if you run across kids like that today they should be made aware of the impact and rewarded for being of exceptional character.They are encountered about as often as this gun is.

I am a real big fan of the 16ga... and I figure every gun nut on the planet is a fan of the m97.. excellent choice for any collection....

Excellent idea, and an excellent choice for pheasant.

My 16 gauge 97 is from the mid 50's. A former preacher owned it. He moved to Miami to retire at his daughters place, and I guess he didn't have much use for it any more. My cousin has our grandfather's 1897 12 gauge and won't give it up.
