I got the same one. Too bad the NRA does not have a donor who will match dollar for dollar any contribution to them also.

According to the NRA website, they are:
In 1990, NRA made a dramatic move to ensure that the financial support for firearms-related activities would be available now and for future generations. Establishing the NRA Foundation, a 501 (c) (3) tax-exempt organization, provided a means to raise millions of dollars to fund gun safety and educational projects of benefit to the general public. Contributions to the Foundation are tax-deductible and benefit a variety of American constituencies, including youths, women, hunters, competitive shooters, gun collectors, law enforcement agents and persons with physical disabilities.

You might want to read the whole court opinion. When you do, note the amicus briefs by Robert Dowlut and Stefan Tahmassebi. They are the General Counsel and Deputy General Counsel of the NRA.

However, I believe it is true that the NRA wasn't eager to see this case proceed because of concerns similar to those cited in the link posted by Highball. Most folks have absolutely no idea how damaging negative precedent can be in a legal battle.

I sent them a return e-mail. I mentioned that DC has the most restrictive gun-control laws in the country coupled with the highest crime rates in the country, and could they please explain to me why it is that the life-saving laws promoting public safety have not been effective there.

I also mentioned that there has never been any proof that any of their life-saving laws promoting public safety have ever had any affect on crime whatsoever, and actually have done nothing but prevent victims from defending themselves from criminals, who ignore any and all laws.

I remarked that the NRA had nothing to do with the recent DC court ruling.

They have not yet answered my message.

With great risk comes great reward! I for one am not satisfied with the status quo. Slowly dwindling the right that are provided by the Constitution of the United States of America is not a winning strategy. It is a plan for failure. This is a right that is as much American as the Right to Free Speech.

What if we lose? Then we live our lives under the oppression it brings us, or maybe we could lead an effort to change the constitution so that it says something like "...the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." This way everyone will know it is a constitutional right!

    Are we afraid of failure?

Actually, I do love the fantasy that the gun-controlling nazi's give us.
... from the long-standing machine gun ban . to the 1968 Gun Control Act . to the Brady Background Check LawNow that is a dream worth dreaming!

We are never bigger than our dream. The size of ourdreams is the first limiting factor.

Those Jews are a pesimistic bunch!

The court says gun control is unconstitutional and they say yeah but otherwise. SO> We'll be the same position we are today. Kalifornia outlaws everything. Cook County is for commies, and the residence of D.C. fear for their lives.

...and people wonder where stereotypes come from.

This fight is so critical to the safety and sanity of our nation that an anonymous donor has extended his challenge and will match dollar for dollar all gifts to this Brady Gun Law Defense Fund.

Hmmmmmm. It wouldn't be George Soros would it? What a mystery! [:o)]

Big talk...but what's the biggest bet you've ever placed in Vegas? Willing to bet your entire net worth on black? (a guy from England did and won, so you wouldn't be the first)

Given that gun laws have been an incrementally creeping menace, why not bide a little time for a better Supreme Court? To use a poker analogy, why force a bad hand now when we might get a great hand on the next deal?

The survey was a trap. I as well as many others fell for it. Now we are part of their lying anti gun stats. Never do anything like this unless you're absolutely sure it's a friendly organization like NRA, GOA, GB, etc. Fool me once your fault, fool me twice my fault.[:(!]

How many years did we go without a Republican controlled House and Senate? (of course, that's changed...) It can happen. Roberts, Thomas, and Scalia are relatively young compared to most of the other more liberal justices.
