Mitsubishi D1850 tractor problem
The hydraulic lift has quit working. I have replaced the fluid but that did not help. There is a lever under the seat that controlls how fast the lift works and it can be set to lock in the up position. That is not the problem. The arms can be lifted by hand but they just drop in the down position with no resistance at all.
Can anyone suggest any trouble shooting ideas? Is there an internal filter that could be stopped up?
As far as I can tell, there are no manuals in english for these "gray" market tractors. They are overhauled in Korea or some place and sent over here.

Thanks spasm but they do not list the d1850 service manual. I'm really looking for someone who has experience with this tractor and can recommend troubleshooting. I also hate to pay $50 for a barely readable 20 page manual like I got for a Belarus tractor!! Tom 0 -
What lift are you talking about? 2 point? an add on bucket or what?
Are you sure the pump is working if you have one? It would seem from your post that you don't have any pressure. Pressure is what would keep your lift in the up position. Without knowing how those tractors work, I can't give you any other hints off the top of my head.0 -

I am not sure if this will help, but I have a little experience with hydraulics so I will give it a shot.
First, check to make sure that the hydraulic pump is working. You can find it by tracing the lines back. When you move the controls it should make some kind of noise. Another way to check if it is working properly (not the recommended way, but it works) is to disconnect the line that leads from the pump wherever you can (not on the pump end). Secure the line so that the end is in some type of container, start the tractor and then move the control lever. If hydraulic fluid sprays out then the pump is working.
Second, trace the lines back and see if you can find the three-way valve (it controls where the hydraulic fluid is sent). It will most likely look like a little box with a line coming from the pump, a line going to the rams, and a line going back to the resevoir. It should also have some kind of solenoid on it. It is common for those to get gunked up and "stick" in the position that they are in normally.
It could also be the seals on the rams, but it is unlikely that they failed in both rams at the same time (unless there is only one ram).
There should be a filter somewhere in there. It wouldn't hurt to replace it. Most oil filters have an internal bypass so that when it gets gunked up, the oil just bypasses the filter media, but not all of them do.
That is what I can come up with without having any knowledge of the tractor and not being able to look at the system itself. Hope it helps.0 -

Sounds like a very typical transmission style. Your description sounds similar to an older Kubota and probably many other tractors. Sorry can't help you much. Hydraulic filter is probably an external canister and not internal.
Just an idea, if you can get from hydraulic fittings and a pressure gauge, you might want to unbolt external pressure lines and check the pressure. Another thing to try is listen to the lines, does it sound like oil is pumping through the lines? Does the pump make different noises when you push or pull the lever? These basic things helped us troubleshoot a hydraulic problem on a John Deere 4020.0 -

To everyone else, thanks for replies. This is a two arm lift system which it attached to a rear tiller. It worked fine until it just stopped. There is no noise from a pump that I can hear. It is almost like the lever does not engage the pump. There are several metal lines that seem to be connected to the system but that is what I want to know. I just don't want to start disconnecting things without knowing what may jump out, never to be seen again. I have had that happen to guns and don't want it to happen to the tractor!!

mitsubishi makes some case-ihc...cubcadet...bolens ...kumiai...satoh models & in the same size unit most parts are interchangeable...would see if a nearby dealer has info, like the hands-on guy in the shop...a few days ago my 18 hp ford tractor 3-pt wouldn't move...till i found i had bumped the flow rate adj valve under the seat...simple twist & OK...most of these type have a common reservoir of hyd/trans fluid for trans,diff, remote, 3-pt, & steering...think simple as in if you have a remote cylinder or loader & it will stroke in/out-up/down then pump is working..maybe a pin or lever slipped???? 0 -

Anyways you might need to have the cylinders repacked if the pump is working.0 -
