AK Question
Got a new AK really cheap because it wouldn't cycle consistantly. This is the first stamped receiver model I have had to mess with and it is a different animal than the milled models. The trigger assembly pins were not seated all the way, but once I tapped them in it functioned fine for 6 or 7 rounds. I noticed that the pins had begun to work their way back out again. Seems like there should be c-clips or something to hold them in. What's the deal?

There are so many varients and I was just wondering who manufactures the ones used by the Iraqi people.
Just wondering

was looking at norinco mak-90's and I was wondering if these are the chinese equivalent to the wasr-10 read: made to take single stack mags and had receivers milled to accept hi cap mags 0 -

How does this work?
Why doesn't the gas exit the end of the barrel?
Why doesn't the recoil alone eject the casing and push the trigger back?0 -
Saw a Romanian WASR-10 with all red wood? I'm assuming someone replaced the plastic hand grip with a wood pc. and stained it, along with the balance of the furniture red?? Correct assumption? Any effect on value? Thanks 0 -
In several ads, I see AK's with the barrels cut at 45% angles. What gives? Does not the barrel need to be perfectly flat or accuracy is out the door. Or am I missing something? Tom 0 -
A guy was trying to sell an ak without a bayonet lug and a thumbhole stock, he is trying to say it is a pre ban 84 gun. I say it is post ban?
Did they have thumbhole stocks before the ban on ak's?0 -
gas does exit end of bbl, just some is diverted to push piston
Casing would just stick to chamber if exactor did not pull it back0 -
How does this work? It works very well
Why doesn't the gas exit the end of the barrel? Gas does exit the end of the barrel but while the bullet is still in the barrel yet past the gas port, gas pressure enters the piston tube and pushes the piston aft and cycles the action.
Why doesn't the recoil alone eject the casing and push the trigger back? It is not a blowback design. The bolt cams/rotates with a locking lug and it is locked at the chamber. The bolt carrier is not and when the gas pushes the piston aft it rotates the bolt and unlocks the lug.0 -
put simply, "recoil alone" doesn't work because:
the bolt and bolt carrier are 2 seperate peices
the bolt is locked, until the bolt carrier moves back a bit, and unlocks the bolt. bolt carrier keeps going back and takes the bolt with it.
otherwise it'd blow up on your as.0 -
take the cover off your AK and try it. pull back the bolt carrier, for the first 1/2" or so the bolt moves backwards but it's only making the bolt turn to unlock it. let the bolt carrier go forwards again, the bolt turns back the other way and is locked again.
your hand pulling back on the bolt does the exact same thing as the gas pushing on the piston.0 -
interesting.
thanks, y'all, I learned something tonight.0 -
Alright, that makes more sense. Thanks much. 0
