Sen. John Kyl (R-AZ) introduced a legislative proposal that would criminalize unauthorized disclosure or publication of classified information "concerning efforts by the United States to identify, investigate or prevent terrorist activity." This proposal, which arose from the rash of devastating leaks published by the New York Times and the Washington Post, would make such disclosures punishable by up to twenty years in prison. Opposition is already gathering, putting the liberal media's need to sell newspapers above the security of the country. This proposal was introduced in 2000 and made it all the way to President Clinton's desk before he vetoed it.

  FREEDOM OF PRESS!
  WE ARE THE FOURTH ARM OF THE GOVERNMENT!
  WE CAN SAY WHATEVER WE WANT. WE ARE PROTECTED BY THE CONSTITUTION!
  
  If the press was truly the fourth branch of the government, I would support political assassination!
