American Labor
While I have worked in general industry an manufacturing since '93, I've been slow to make an observation.
Seems to me that less than 50% of the men hired work out. Either they're lazy, arrogant, obnoxious, quit, forget to show up, or get fired.
I bet 90% of the women hired work out fine.
Go figure.
They're hired for the same entry level jobs. The men general move up to the more skilled jobs, while the woman generally stay in the entry level department.
Why is it so hard to find decent American men willing to work?

I think men prefer something more than entry level. 0 -

This is a trick.
Are you sure there is any manufacturing in the United States??
My grandmother lost her shoe factory job in the 80's when the plant went overseas.
My mom lost her factory job when it went overseas about 5 years ago.
My dad is barely hanging on as the factory has been sold over and over and he's lost his retirement benefits...over 30 years at that factory. It's the last remaining factory of that company still on US soil.
My sister worked in the trucking Industry to move Proctor and Gamble products...they sent her to see the port where they will be bringing in Tampons...now made in Taiwan. No more US made Tampons for you girls. Toilet paper is on a thin line of still being made in the US.
I wouldn't work in the manufacturing business period. Not unless they cloned Harry Truman and we elected him back into office as President.0 -

seems like the personel department can't pick em, if they are only getting it half right the company should fire them and just take guys of the street.0 -
Because they want to start at the top!
They need to try the Army and learn how to work/earn your way up.0 -
Texas Vet: How true. After being a Infantryman in the ETO everything
seems easy since. Also, "the harder I worked the luckier I got".0 -
It does appear that a lot of the younger workers that interview wish to start at the top and have an inflated view of their value to the company.
Most don't show up to work after a while and get bored very easily!
This is the 5 out of 100 that are screened and hired. Things have changed in America, folks are not desperate to work anymore!0 -

Manufacturing thrives in the United States in the prepared food industry.
America doesn't make televisions anymore, but we make a mean frozen pizza! The key for manufacturing in the United States is making stuff that is too cheap, generic, and impractical to import.0
