Finished my project--gun display mount
Been wanting something to use for taking pictures of my handguns. Used scrap plywood. The front mount support block quickly adjusts up or down for different size handguns. My wife says "I have too much time on my hands".

No, "to much time on your hands" would be if you went to much greater
lengths to customize what you built...wire/pearl inlay and such.[;)]

Your plywood material looks like the stuff that we used to make concrete forms out of. That material had no voids and had a dark hard plastic veneer on both sides. 0 -

Yep...and I hate those forms! ...not the project, the wood concrete forms.0 -

And a veneer along the end grain of the plywood. [:)]
I also like the semi-auto stands that have a single vertical that slips inside the mag well.
Lighting and focus is the toughest part for crisp pictures.
A tripod, the camera's timer, contrasting backdrop,
and lots of indirect, reflected light make a world of difference.
Note, even this $2600 gun has a focus issue:
