Soldiers have been gripeing for an eternity. This guy is an amatuer in that department.

...I agree. The date of this "letter" could be have been dated to several wars back and still have merit...[;)]

This guy is really tired. I suggest he try snorting some methamphetamine. That would give him a lift.

I agree 100% with what he had to say. I hope he's still alive.

I am in total agreement with this guy. And should anyone have a quarrel with that should walk their happy little butt over to him and thank him and those like him for providing the protection for them to disagree. All those men and women who have fought and died in every war in which this country has ever been involved should be given thanks and lauded as heroes. for those that disagree ask yourself if these people did not do these jobs and protect you and your family, fight for a new place to exist to escape the tyranny of their times, create a safe and open place for you to live, would you really have a place, a country in which you can disagree without the threat of execution for those beliefs? for those that disagree i ask you now to, should it happen that people like this guy, those in our military decide to no longer do what they do or that the military be dissolved for what ever reason the powers that be can create, determine what you would do. would you be brave enough to pick up and defend you and yours? your neighbor? your friends? or would you continue to disagree and face execution by whatever power has emerged simply because you don't think like they do?
this soldier is not simply complaining, he is listing the things that are making his jobs inexoribly more difficult to do. and while you can list the same for your job, new stapler, better coffee, newer software, better computers...your list and job doesn't hinge on the fact that if you walk around the corner into the break room that a guy with a gun or a bomb strapped to his chest could be there waiting on you, to kill you just because you exist.
i say give the man the right tools and the permission to do the job. his motivation is there. the sooner this happens the sooner they can all come home. God Bless all our soldiers and THANK YOU.

Point of order: no one's calling for a phased withdrawal from Afghanistan.

To whom it may concern (media, politicans, etc)....

    NEWS FLASH:

I don't care if you don't support me or the rest of the troops! I couldn't care less. Cindy Sheehan, Jane Fonda, John Kerry and everyone else who opposes OIF did not bring down my morale. I can only remember one or two times when any of those names came up. Nobody gave a damn!

Therefore, I don't care if you don't support me. You don't support me if you don't support what I do for a living. Don't pretend that you do. Don't get defensive when I say that because that's a knee-jerk reaction apparently. It's okay. It doesn't make you bad. There are plenty of professions that I don't support out there. I get paid well to do the job that I do and I don't need your support. Speak freely. Do what your conscience tells you to do and vote accordingly. It doesn't bother me that you don't support me. Just don't pretend to support me and then pull us out too quickly so we can watch close working companions get slaughtered for helping us (i.e. our interpreters). That's not support. However, that's okay. I don't hold it against you. You don't support me. Get it through your head. That's fine. The Army gives me the support I need. Yours is unnecessary.

The way the American public acts is an embarrassment, or rather a national disgrace. Unfortunately, an election season is coming, and half of the politicians will be tripping over themselves to the grandest national embarrassment possible.

...and AL Gore wonders why he lost the right in vote in Florida.

    Forgive us.

I have a LONG memory when it comes to politicians or citizens disrespecting our troops or commanders.

Does anyone have a source on this? No offense ECC, but you have posted things like this before that have turned out to be proven false by snopes. Anyone can write up an e-mail claiming to be a "Sergeant in Afghanistan" and put it on the Internet, doesn't mean it's legitimate. And you should really doubt anything like this that you receive in an e-mail, they are proven to be fakes quite often.

I got this off another board, but even if it is a fake (which I doubt seriously, given the source), the sentiment still rings true...and just about every service member out there would agree with what was said. BTW...the source of this article was a Spec Ops Major in the US Army.

I seriously disagree with your comments. If everyone had your mentality we might still be under British control. Disgusting condecending tone to your post.

Lemme introduce myself, as I haven't before. I'm a 22 yr. old Sgt in the Marine Corps. I'm from a little hick-a$$ town outside of Sulphur, LA. I've been in the Corps for over 4 years now, with only one tour under my belt. I'll admit, I wasn't on the fighting front with the grunts, but I did see some slime that still haunts me.

I'll even go on record with this. If the Iraqi's wanted their country back, they could've stepped up 3 years ago. But they didn't. They don't care. They're chicken slime. Useless little things. We're over there, defending their freedom, a feedom they don't even care about.

But, that's them. All I know is that I was given an order. An order I swore to uphold. And I did. I did what I was told. That's what thousands of Americans are doing right now. They're doing what they're told. Whether or not they agree with it....That's up to them. But they still do it.

I think ya'll should quit b****ing about what we should be doing, or where we should be. I have a few ideas of my own, but won't share them with the risk of getting banned.

That's all I gotta say. Take it or leave it. Your call.

    Respectfully

    Sgt Justin W. Thomas
    USMC
