My hunt this weekend. (pic added)
I'm starting this post with a question. Has anyone else here been on a hunt that was just ruined by having to deal with a plain old surly or rude ranch manager / guide / etc? I hope not, but if you are one of the unlucky, I am now in your ranks. My father and I were invited on an exotic hunt by one of his largest clients (my father is a lobbyist). The man invited us out and told me I could harvest any axis buck I wanted, any blackbuck antelope I wanted, and any audad ram I wanted. It was extremely generous of him and I was excited from when this hunt was planned about a month ago. We got our there on friday and I passed up on a very nice axis buck because it was getting late and I could not be sure of my target. The next day I harvested a great blackbuck with 19" horns with about 3 1/2 turns. The bad part of the hunt started there. The "ranch manager" (an employee of the company who works this ranch as a cook/game cleaner/etc) now says that I am done for the weekend. We are puzzled, so my dad offers to give up his animal and let me take his, but no, the ranch manager insists "that's not how it works here." So this whole time he is being surly and rude and we are trying to figure out where the error in communication happened, the boss calls (my dad's client). He wants to know how our hunt is going, and so we explain our situation. He gets the ranch manager on the phone and talks to him for a minute. They hang up, and the manager says "well he says you can shoot what ever you want, but I don't like that so I'm not letting you." We decide there is nothing that can be done, so we leave the ranch a day early. Looking back though, the hunt was fun when we weren't dealing with the manager. There were good friends, beautiful animals and pretty country. I hope no one else has had a bad hunt, but share if you want, or share the good ones too! (I'll post the pics of my antelope later tonight when I get to my camera.)

You SHOULD have made another call. The Client that PAID for a guided hunt, with one of several species, can not be cut off due to a snippy ranch owner/guide, unless you break a game law etc. Either he took you for the rest of the hunt, or he forfeits his money. That is the way I would have gone about it. YMMV 0 -

Sorry that part of your hunt went so poorly. Sounds like the manager had a bad case of Assholititis. 0
