Bersa Thunder 380 Problem
I purchased a Bersa Thunder 380 Nickel version a couple of weeks ago and must say initially I was impressed; however, after only 209 rounds to be exact I've ran into a problem. After shooting 2 rounds out of a loaded 7 round mag. the gun failed. After further investigation I was able to determine that the grip pin broke. Prior to this incident I thought I had found a diamond in the rough. The gun fed well, was accurate for its size, felt great, and appeared to be of fine quality. I spent a great deal of time online and at various firearm suppliers investigating this weapon and could find nothing but praise for it. Have I just had the misfortune of a lemon? Regardless I must say I have lost all confidence in this weapon. Has anyone else had problems similar to this? Or is this just a fluke? I'm going back to the store where the purchase was made but I'm sure they'll just refer me to the manufacturer warranty which will take 2 months to come to any type of resolve. Maybe the store will let me credit this gun towards an upgrade though I highly doubt it. Anyways, any feedback would be appreciated.

i to was looking at bersa, didnt find much bad info out here,
but i did see an older one break in half a while back [:(] at the range so i went with the kel tec PF9 .
so far so good [:p][^]
you being a LEO the store might cut some slack, alot LEO here buy bersa and kel tec as a back up. you start talking bad about it to your co workers will be bad for business[:(][:(]

I have one that has been a great little shooter.
The only problem that I have had with it is one of the grip screws kept comming loose. A little lock tight solved the problem.0 -
UTAHTROOPER...you must have gotten one made on a Friday! I have one, had it for about 6 years, haven't shot it much over that time, probably 100 rounds a year. Never had a problem. Carried it for a while. Would carry it again, I'm just partial to revolvers for carry. Give the factory a chance to make it right under warranty. 0 -
Bersa makes a quality product. Lousy trigger but a good reliable gun. You got a fluke. Don't be afraid to have it repaired under the warranty.
I can't say what your dealer would do, but if it were me, and you wanted to trade it back and "upgrade," I would allow it. Understand that you bought a new gun and it is now used. The dealer can get it repaired under the warranty, and then re-sell it, but he will never get a new price for it. So, don't expect to get full retail on a trade. If he does it, he is being a super nice guy. I would probably allow 90% of retail on trade, and then sell the gun for 80% of retail when I got it back.0 -

I have same gun with around 400 rounds through it. No problems like yours. One or two jams in first 100 rounds or so. Nothing since then. I also researched the gun quite a lot before purchase and I found no comments to mirror your issue. Maybe poor research on my part or just bad luck on yours. Good Luck. Take it to UPS or FED EX and ship it. If you field strip the pistol and wrap it up, you can ship it ground as parts and save money. If you ship it assembled they will make you ship it overnight. It is their policy, not a law.

The above is from the Bersa Talk forums... From everything I've ever read there, This is the place you want to send your .380. Top drawer and quick turn-around service.
My own EDC is a T45UC, great lil' piece...lots of good info on that same board regarding the T380's. Give Royce at CGW a chance to make it all well and right.

Thanks for your input everyone. The store is sending the gun back to Bersa so we'll see how fast their turn around time is. I guess I'll give this little gun another chance and just hope there is no more problems. 0 -
I have put at least 1000 rounds through mine....no problems at all. I tried to find a problem with it and can't.....good little gun 0 -

I always liked my Thunder 40. The guy that bought it from me likes it better. 0
