it's poisonous to all dogs if they eat too much chocolate. it overstimulates their heart. it has a "half life" of 17 hours. I don't think the effects are cumulative, unless you keep overlapping the "half life" and it keeps adding up before it goes away.

I always have given my dogs a little bit of chocolate once in a while. I haven't noticed any problems.

other things like raisins, grapes, onions, and some other stuff are very much more dangerous.

It is an alkaloid that is rather in similar in structure to caffeine, which is also an alkaloid.

Damn...dont tell my Blue Tick chocolate will kill her. The little snot has been stealing M&Ms since she was a pup...8 years later she aint dead yet.

Vet justs says that she must have a tolerance for it.

Oh yeah...the little thief has a liking for starburst chews as well. [}:)]

Certian chocolate is more poisonous than others. Milk chocolate is nearly harmless in normal amounts. Baking chocolate is more poisonous. Basically the higher the cocoa content, the more poisonous.

    Alcohol is as well.
