Midwest Ice Storm
If you've noticed that some members from the midwest (Okla. Ks. Mo.) haven't posted recently, it may be because they can't.
We had a BIG ice storm Sunday & Monday that has left hundreds of thousands w/o power.
Power is out at my home. But luckily we were able to borrow a gas generator. Also bought one of the last (at the time) indoor kerosene heaters available in the area. So we're getting by. Probably better than many. It's alot like camping....INDOORS.
Drove my truck route from Tulsa up to SW Mo. and SE Ks. on Monday morning. Drove thru several towns were the power was out city wide. Got back to Tulsa and the power was out @ my employer. No work today!
Looks like I'll probably lose a couple of tree's in the yard.
[:(] But we've dodged the bullet for several years here and watched as fires/floods etc have hit other people. Guess it's just our turn.
We'll make it thru.

We are in the middle of it right now here in Northern Illinois. When I left for work today, I packed an overnight bag and a sleeping bag in case I get stuck here at work. The good news is if the power goes off, the generators will kick in so at least I won't be cold and in the dark... 0 -
Poor Jacob was crowing that he was out of school, then complaining because he was bored. At least he was OK and we hope our other midwestern brothers are too. 0 -

We've been lucky so far... this time around. Watching the news and Springfield got it hard, still thousands w/o heat or elec.[:(] 0 -
I sent everyone home at 4:00 today and closed up and left myself at closing time. Made it home in one piece. The lights have flicker a couple times and it is icing up good out there right now.
I about got taken out on the way to work this a.m. by a lady in her SUV. I guess she still has not figured out that when the roads are icy you can't run 60-70 MPH even if you have 4 wheel drive. She about lost it coming around a slight curve and crossed the center line, I avoided her by going off the road. She got it straightened out before totally loosing it.0 -
I'm here! But, I'm out of liquor. 0 -
Got the fireplace going and the generator is ready, but I hope we don`t need it. 0 -
The most dangerous part of the whole thing is the way the other drivers act. Everyone thinks they are invinceable.
It's been very slippery here. Had a nice sheet of ice on everything the other day. But temps have been hovering around 32-33 degrees for the past couple of days and we've been getting a ton of rain. I wish it would just get about 5 degrees cooler, we'd have 10" of snow.0
