    I generally sleep while lying on my right side, arm under the pillow. However, within six inches of my hand, sit a .357 Magnum revolver, and a Gerber knife hanging from the bedpost, and several flashlights on the bedside table.

    Let's see

    First is a sheet, then a mattress, then boxspring, then a frame, carpet, underlayment, plywood, insulation, I-Beam, Concrete, gravel and then not too sure after that. [:D]

    I wouldn't feel too comfortable with a loaded pistol under my pillow. I do have a gun in my bedroom in a small wallsafe in the walk-in closet. Loaded clip but none in the chamber.

    I'm not very paranoid.

    Under the bed... Remington 870 w/ 12ga flechettes
    In the closet and the safes... you don't even want to know, but it would make a "gangsta" s*it himself... If he gets past the rottweilers. [:D]

    Under the pillow is unsafe for more than one reason.

    I've had to deal with armed people who were sleeping more than once. It's tough to guarantee thata gun stays totally out of sight if it's in the bed. Their pillow gun's mine before they open their eyes.

    Better kept nearby and easily accessible, but completely out of sight.

    Go sticking your hand in the wrong dog bowl and you will get bit.

    I keep a springfield xd45 sitting on the headboard shelf, and a flashlight so i don't shoot anyone who gets drunk and staggers into my house thinking it is theirs. I can wack em with the flashlight and tell em to get their drunk ass out [:D]

    2. Dreams. They can be very vivid. Wouldn't want to shoot the bad guy in my dreams, or something similar, then have to scrape the wife off the wall in the morning.

    Not saying that I dream about shooting bad guys in my sleep, but I have dreamed about shooting a stage or two.
