Lowe?s Flooring Contractor
I'm about to have somewhere between $20,000.00 and $30,000.00 worth of flooring put down in my house. Some hard wood, some ceramic tile, some marble tile, and some carpet. The flooring I've picked out comes from Lowe's, but I wanted to use one of their installers to do it so I wouldn't mess it up trying it myself. I have put everything in storage except the furniture and appliances.
The contractor came by yesterday to give me the install quote. He "no quoted" it. I asked him why, and he said he doesn't move furniture and I would have to have the house completely empty for him to do the install.
WTH! Do they expect all homes to be vacant for them to do the work? We've never had to "empty" the house to have flooring installed before. Guess I'll use someone else.

That is BS on the furniture. We had carpet replaced on our new home. They did it one room at a time.. Moving furniture to do the install. Find someone else. 0 -
My oldest son installs hardwood floors for a living (about 15 years now). I've been thinking about replacing our carpet with hardwood. For prices for the flooring (materials), he suggested for me to check prices at Lumber Liquidators. He says they have some very good prices. Don't know if you have one in your area. 0 -
We had our living room floor replaced last year, we had laminated hardwood put in, and used Lowe's. They don't have installers, at least here. The guys they have on call are sub-contractors. We were told up front, at the store, that it would be that way. Since we were only doing one room. we worked it out.
The guy was in at 8a.m., done by noon, and did a great job.0 -
You must live in a very busy area if they are turning away business like that. I'd check out the smaller stores, often you will get a better deal and definately better customer service! 0 -
Dump them; it is normal for flooring guys to move furniture. 0 -
I worked at Lowe's. Lowe's install sales is a joke and a scam. DO NOT use Lowe's installed sales! I guarantee you can get it done cheaper. 0 -
Normal? I charge for moving furniture.Nothing expensive but I dont do it for free. When I quote a price its by the foot for installation, does not include prep.A word of advice dheffley, dont let Lowes,Home Teapot or the like do your install, you will get way overcharged.Go to a reputable contractor or flooring store. Most flooring stores will give the contact info for their installers if thats all your needing is installation.quote:Originally posted by allen griggs

I'll install it and move your furniture for the going rate....
1/2 of the $ in materials.
So 10-15K depending on the amount.[:)]
