Need Help with Auto Ordnance Kahr Question

I am looking to take the plunge on buying a 1927 A1 Thompson regular (not the light one), but I have heard a chorus of complaints about the current production of Auto-Ordnance / Kahr guns. Any experts out there want to lend me some advice as well as best places regarding price. Also how can you tell if one is pre-1999 and pre-Kahr?

  I'm kind of interested in the answers as well. I have not heard a single bad thing about Kahr's or Auto-Ordnance's. Especially the 1927, we've sold about 16-17 1927's thus far, haven't heard a thing.
