sour milk - how to remove stench

Ok, Here is the deal.

I had a pint of chocolate milk with me hunting back in January.

I never took it out of my day pack when I returned to the house. [V]

OH MY GOD what a stench it was today when I finally decided to wash all my hunting clothes. So, besides the day pack, I have two really nice waterproof jackets and pants sets that stink like sour milk.

I have tried washing with detergent, washing with Fabreze odor remover.

What can I do?????

    tomatoe juice will get rid of skunk smell, maybe try that?

    Soak them in gasoline, then run them through the washer with Tri Sodium Phophate (TSP) and Tide. Use lots. Then hang them on the line to dry in the Sun.

    I've done it that way and it works.

    baking soda?
    You will ruin alot of treatments and afbric with gas!
    Wash several times with plain water, also! that UV and perfume animal do notice

    Soak everything in white vinegar for 2 to 3 hours and then wash with a good detergent.

    Do you know anyone with an air ionizer? Or a machine called an Ozone generator?

    I had an issue with a Chev blazer sizer SUV and a cat that peed on the front seat. I washed , shampooed, cleaned , scrubbed 5 times, the stink would still return each summer, I tried several washes thru 2 different summers.

    Until I borrowed a friends "Ozone generator" sold with the name "Lightening in a box", I borrowed the unit as I could not think of another thing to try. put it in the garage with the unit inside the truck , cord out a window crack and left the unit running overnight.

    2 summers have passed and the smell has not returned. If you know anyone that has one try it for a weekend, throw the cloths into a closet and see what happens with the unit.

    I have heard that too, Mr Flobby, Dude said you can put your stank tennis shoes next to it, leave for an hour and they have NO odor!

    The emzymes from sour milk are nasty and if left in place too long can be nearly impossible to remove. Splash some vinager onto the wrost smelling areas and let it sit for an hour (but not too long) and then dump about five boxes of baking soda into your washer, fill the tub with hot water and hope for the best. Don't even bother with detergent because these have only a limited effect on enzymes and often work against the baking soda. If this fails there are specialized chemicals to attack enzymes but you'll likely have to take your garments to professional cleaner.

    BR here....


    massengil douche will get rid of the smell....It works on dogs sprayed by a skunk where as tomato juice does NOT....As soon as the dog gets wet, the skunk smell is still there....not so with massengil douche, pour it on, let dry....you will never worry about the odor again....


    And if your "manly ego" wont let you go buy a box, then ask your wife or girlfriend to do it...

    I second BR on this,I read about Masengil on here from BR and needed to try it soon after ,it really works.

    I first learned of Massengil from a VET!!!!!!!!!!

    And he even used it to rid his clothing of dead rotting animals...

    Baking soda which has been mentioned but also try newspaper. I know that it works in a freezer.

    douche works great, the key ingredients in it, and tomato juice is vinegar, but strait vinegar will create it's own problem, by leaving it in the weather you will speed up the bacteria that cause the smell, it may take a week, and don't leave it in direct sunlight long as it will fade it on the exposed areas

    BR here...

    Now why on earth would you be explaining your purchase?....Do you explain your condom purchase? your shaving lotion purchase? Do you explain to the pharmacist that you "got it from a toilet seat" when you pick up a prescription?...

    No I am not referring to anyone in particular, but why do you feel the need to explain what you buy with your money to someone who really couldnt care one way or the other what you buy...the only thing on their mind is probably their problems with the boyfriend/girlfriend/parents/teachers/boss...

    ITS NONE OF THEIR BUSINESS ...

    whenever I had to buy those things or the OTHER sanitary items I carried them proudly as to say" yes this woman gives me enough that I will buy these for her and let y'all look and laugh may not get it for a few days but I will get it again!"

    PUKE on it, puke will cover the smell of milk.

    J/K! Must agree with mr.floppy, we use ozone machines to rid houses and ductwork of smells like dead animals or mold. Just make sure you keep it on for 24 hours and don't get near the machine while it's running. Better to leave it in a room with the door shut.
