I live in Mississippi, and there are a few reasons that you should to:
1. If someone is on your residential property, and you feel threatened, you can shoot them with impunity (they do not need to be in your house)[:D][:D]
2. Your vehicle is considered an extension of your home, so you can legally possess a loaded firearm (tucked between the seats, in the glove compartment, etc.) in your car/truck[:D][:D]
3. When I renewed my FFL our CLEO said not to send him a copy of my application because "we don't keep a file on those, we trust you"[:D][:D]
4. If a firearm is legal under Federal law, it is legal here[:D][:D]

I love Mississippi. During my AF career, I spent some happy years in Biloxi. I had my first beer there, in fact.
We had a 4th of July parade through town, heckled and teased by local teens calling cadence on the side lines so it was hard as hell to march, the temp in the high ninties, humidity about 110%.
We were dismissed someplace downtown, too long ago, I don't remember the street, but strangely it was exactly in front of a bar.. We mobbed it..Everyone hot, sweaty, miserable and pissed at the hecklers..Each of us got a huge..I mean HUGE mug of whatever was on tap that day from the bartender. God....Heaven. I'll never forget it. I was also impressed by the fact that no one gave a crap about my age. I was 17 at the time, that was in 1956. Those Mississippi bartenders decided if I was old enough to play solder and march around the town like a grown up, I was dern well old enough to have myself a beer.
I never argued with them. I figgered they were adults, how could a kid like me know better??
After that, I went to classes, electronics and radar type maintence, and on the weekends I went to visit them fine barroom folks.
There was a resturant there that was owned by an ex circus performer, a lady who had been a trapeze artist. She had pics of herself performing all over the walls, and I got to be friends with her and her husband. I wish I could remember her name, I can't, I only remember she had the reddest hair I had ever seen. but I do remember what I ate everytime I went in. I had a hamburger, which was a giant, and condiments stacked so high it was impossible to eat without making a mess,and I drank a Jax..Does Jax beer still exist?
Then I'd leave there and go to a movie theater that showed old westerns and stripper films. Heck of a combination I know, but that's what they did.
Wonderful memories from a wonderful state. A place that touches my heart because they inact only the laws that are necessary to keep people from cutting each others heads off. Otherwise they leave you the hell alone, as it should be. They don't make laws that require cops hiding under your bed and spying through holes, they leave you alone.
In all the world..If I was young again, Mississippi would be the place I would make my home. In fact, I had every intention of doing so. The Navy had a home for vets in Pascagoula(s) that I was planning to move into until that derned hurricane destroyed it. Now my choice is the AFRT in Washington, where I can't even own a pea shooter made from river cane.

I know the laws in the State of Mississippi, and I am correct about them. If there is an intruder on your residential property, and you legitimately believe that they are a threat to you or yours you have the right to use lethal force. The deputies around here are good guys, and would probably buy me a beer to calm me down if I ever had to take advantage of that law. Oh, and by the way, I have checked the law myself as well as checking with our CLEO.
You might not like the fact that non-LEOs can defend themselves, but that is your problem.
You are a civilian unless you are on active duty with the US Military. LEO's in the US are civilians.0 -

Sounds good there in Missisippi...But if u really need a gun there to defend your home...It's not all that good a place i think....
