When he shoots it it lifts his leading foot off the ground. Insane, one of the posts on there says the rounds are 50 bucks a pop.

You guys are wimps... if you think a .700 Nitro Express is a badazz cartridge, try shooting a .50 BMG in a custom built bolt-action rifle sometime.
While the .700 Nitro Express is sometimes touted as the "most powerful commercial round in the world", especially by the manufacturer, this is not exactly true. The .700 Nitro Express double rifle is only available on a custom order basis, and has never seen regular production, while the .585 Nyati which is built under similar circumstances is significantly more powerful. Currently the most powerful rifle cartridge available on a commercial basis is the .50 BMG. Still, the .700 Nitro Express is a very powerful round, and is known worldwide by its reputation among serious big-game hunters.
For comparison purposes, here are the published ballistics for each (note that the .50 BMG shoots faster, and has considerably more energy).

700 Nitro Express is a powerful cartridge, but it is not the most powerful as Burt has stated. Now if you want real power take a look at the 950 JDJ. It is a shortened, bottlednecked 20mm case that launches a 3600 grain projectile at approximately 2200 FPS. For some strange reason it is no longer in production:

I have never seen a muzzle brake on a 4-bore, but every custom built .50 BMG rifle I have seen has one... what do you think the answer is[?] My bet is that the .50 BMG (without the muzzle brake) has a LOT more recoil energy than a 4-bore does[:0][:D]0 -
