Tattoo, opinions.....
We went out with some friends tonight. She(friend's wife) wanted a new tattoo (Yankee's logo on small of back), and she got one tonight.
Made me think......
What if I got Tori's name done in Chinese lettering on my right arm(shoulder).
I can't really find any single symbol that stands for Tori or Victoria, but I still really like the simplistic design of the Chinese Lettering. It's really cool.
Any other Chinese letters or symbols I should consider???? Even foreign symbols?

I was going to get my ex-wifes name tattoed on my arm, but was afraid they would spell B!TCH wrong.
Seriously, I would never get anyones name tattoo'ed on me in any language...but thats just me.0 -
Yankees!?!? come on...
As far as your tat, i think the chinese lettering has been done to death by everyone. Maybe something different, like Cyrillic?
guess gunbroker doesnt support cyrillic letters, but check it out, i think its cool.0 -

You simply can't do it in Chinese, but I'll ask someone tomorrow, we have plenty of people in China that speak English and can explain it.
Not that it's any of my business, but I wouldn't put someone's name on myself either. [:)]
In Russian it would look like this: #1042;#1080;#1082;#1090;#1086;#1088;#1080;#1103;, #1058;#1086;#1088;#1080; (Victoria, Tori). If Cyrillic isn't showing up, go to view->text encoding->Cyrillic Windows-1251.
Nevermind... [:D]0 -
for foreign words or names, I think the chinese do have phonetic ideograms to spell them out with. 0 -
If you have it done in Chinese, how will you ever know what it really says (die yankee dog).

I don't know about Chinese but you may look into Kanji.
It's Japanese and there are three types of symbols or writing. You can do a symbol then the name with it
I have the symbol for "respect" on one shoulder and a black sun with my initials in it on the other.

I tried posting it but it does not show proper characters. Try this website in your English to Chinese translation ...

I thought you guys were splittin up a few months back and then made up. That is the perfect reason NOT to get a name tattooed on your body. (no offense)
That being said, Mrs Rogue has my name tattooed on her hip....... I guess I'm just a hypocrite[:D][:D]0 -

Agreed. If it were me, I'd prepare for prison. So, you'd want to get names like Bubba or words like Jail B!tch tattooed on your arm.
While you're preparing for jail and getting tattoos, you might also one to have one put across your ass that says Exit Only.0 -

Getting a name other than your children is certain divorce or termination of the relationship. 0 -
Tattoos are stupid. They cost a fortune to remove, and you WILL want them removed[:(]

I beg to differ on this opinion!
I have 3 (actually 4 but one was an addition to one I had) and I do not regret them one bit!
They all have personal meaning behind them of periods in my life that I am proud of (mostly military)!
I will allways be glad that I got them! They are easily covered with a short sleeve shirt, but I am more than happy to show them off if the subject ever comes up!
I also plan on getting one more (also military related) but just have not found the right artist to do the job!0 -
Hey brand..a tip is'make sure it some where she won't regret, & it can be covered should an important function/job comes up..as some folk are anti..[xx(]
As for the symbol...see the Beckhams[;)]0 -
I don't recommend getting any person's name. You might want Tori's name now, but what if you end up getting a divorce in 5 years? Then you're going to be mad at her and every time you look at your shoulder you'll be reminded of her. No, stay away from names. If you have legitimate children, maybe get their initials tattooed somewhere that's easily hidden both to you and to others.
My tattoo is the Red Arrow of the 32nd Seperate Infantry Brigade (Light). Even when I'm 60 years old, it will have meaning to me, because it's where I started my military career. It's where I did my first combat deployment, even though I didn't see combat.0 -

Double check the spelling on those. Some of those characters are not Cyrillic (Russian).0 -
Isn't the whole Chinese Letting thing getting a bit over done, like barb wire and the like. 0 -
i think it's sweet... if u love her enough, it wouldn't matter even if ya'll did break up because she will always be dear to ur heart!
but... it'd be hard to explain to the next love of ur life!

Screw the tattoo.
Go straight to the brand!
Personally, I would do either one. I thought the guys in college that had fraternity letters tattooed to there ankle were a little too fanatical.
There is an idea here.
COuld get her name in Greek letters.0 -

You like the one on your butt that says: WARNING: Toxic Fumes May Exist?0 -
Jay Leno did a guessing skit a couple of nights ago. He had two women facing the camera and they were asked questions so as to give clues to which one had the tatoo on her lower back. His name for a tatoo is "tramp stamp". Because of his media exposure tatoos may become more of a stigma. 0 -
All four of my kids have them, they are discrete and tasteful.
I'm thing of getting one myself, something gun related. Any suggestions for something appropriate for an old, grey haired phartt?0 -
How about an old SAA tattoed on your upper arm? and the phrase, God made man, Sam colt made man equal! 0 -

+1 A tatoo is a personal thing and tatoos with special meaning that are covered are Ok, I guess! Never put a name with a tatoo, because the majority of the population do not stay together forever and you will need to remove it or cover it in some way. Not worth the chance, in my opinion.
Some tatoos with lots of color are quite beautiful! Small with a nice picture, etc. The ones in one color around the arms and neck are plain stupid to me. But then what do I know, I am from another generation that wore pegged pants and put food coloring in their hair.0 -
Wife & daughter got one each on friday. 0
