If they did, it would just be brought in from out of state.

Except for the Police and the politician's bodyguards, I'm sure.

I remember something like this coming up many years ago. Something about all the lead shot was claimed to be fouling lakes and ponds used for Duck hunting. There were stories that lead shot was going to be replaced by steel shot. Sort of faded away after awhile. I've never used steel shot myself (that I know of at least). What was the problem with it again? I don't bird hunt but I do shoot skeet on occasion. Was it an expense problem or a damage to the barrel problem or what?

Actually, steel shot is required when hunting "waterfowl" ducks, geese etc. That law has been in effect for some time now.

Lead shot is still OK for upland game birds, dove, quail etc.

Now i believe there are enough condor savers out there they just might get it done.

they are saying that they want all lead out of hunting ammo not just lead shot, most all bullets have lead in them somewhere sept maybe the Fine bullets that the Barnes people make.

Once again, they have this measure on ballot at least twice a year for the last oooh I don't know how many years. It never passes, it won't this time either. If it did, Schwarzenegger wouldn't sign it. So it's just business as usual in Sac, wasting money.

And like I always say, Tell the Condors to stay out of the landfills/dumps looking for free meals. The local wild turkeys are doing the same thing.

Lead bullets are on their way out anyways, in favor of "green" bullets that are just as deadly and effective but don't have the toxic effects of lead. Like all matters firearms related, the military is leading the way and I think it is only a matter of time before it becomes the accepted standard for the civilian shooting world. The new bullets will have a tungsten or nylon core that has proven to have the same killing potential in Army tests.

The military wants it because of the problems with lead contamination of shooting ranges, which often require expensive cleanup or simply leave the land unusable for any other purpose.
