Kel Tec .32 and .380 Autos......Your thoughts?
I've heard different opinions from a few locals here about the Kel Tec .32's and .380's for front pocket carry. I fired the .380 version at the range today and it felt pretty solid. It was really quite accurate at 25 feet for a short barreled DAO handgun. In addition to being small and lightweight, they seem to be a well made firearm for the money. What are your thoughts, specifically on the Kel Tec .32's and .380's?

I have a 32 and it works fine. I find it to be accurate and little recoil considering the light weight. I have a couple of steel 32 acp pistols that have a lot more felt recoil. 0 -
I carry mine in my front pocket every day. They are nice little guns, very light. Mine is a .32. Not alot of firepower, but if you are a decent shot it could save your life. 0 -
I've had a p-32 for years and it's a great pocket gun in hot weather. It's just a "point and shoot gun" that hits well at short self-defense distances (less than 10 yards). I sent it to Kel-Tec when I first got it and they polished the feed ramp and lightened the trigger pull to 4 pounds at no charge. They have great service and you can even talk to the gunsmith who's working on your gun. 0 -
I have had a few of the .380's all worked fine but I did have one that after about 100 rounds stopped wanting to fire. The hammer would come all the way back it just wouldnt drop sometimes. It didnt drop more than it did.All the ones I had before that worked fine and had no troubles.I cleaned the one that was malfunctioning on me but it did nothing for the problem.I like them though, they are very easy to conceal anywhere,in any type of climate,Ive never had a gun that slipped so easy into a pocket.Of the 2 I would go with the P3AT over the P32 because of larger bullet, not even enough extra weight to notice and .32acp ammo is as exspensive if not more exspensive than .380acp depending on what your getting.Carried alot but shot alittle is I guess the besy way to go about the pocket rockets. 0 -
As soon as I can get some more of them I'm taking a .380 home. I carry an AMT .380 BACKUP now that I love and it shoots like a dream. The Kel-Tecs are just hard to get a hold of from my distributors. 0 -
I had a rediculously hard time getting my hands on extra mags for my last P3AT.Never had the problem with the ones before then all of the sudden it was like trying to get an audience with the pope to get an extra mag. 0 -
I think the P3AT is a nice little carry piece. For me it's light weight and easy to handle. I went with the 380 for a wider selection and less expensive ammo to practice with. 0 -
The little .32 is great. VERY consealable. 0 -
i have seen about 20 people over the past few year who bring them to b.u.g. matches {back up gun limited to 5 rounds per stage}, i have yet to see more than a couple make it through the match, i have seen 3 of them go up for sale immediately after a match, all claimed they worked fine before they where put under simulated stress of a real life situation with timed rapid fire 0 -
My P3At goes everywhere I go in my front pocket. I also had a P32 before I got the P3AT. They are both really nice for concealed carry. I do however recommend the +1 mag extension. 0 -
Pros: 3AT is so small and light it makes all other "mouseguns" in .22 and .25 obsolete. This is the ultimate "pocket" gun, put it in a pocket holster, and it prints like a wallet in any pocket.
Cons: Reliability is (pardon the pun) hit and miss. Some of these guns are reliable with some ammo. . .some of them aren't.0 -
One of my daily carry is a customized P3AT. Seems reliable nough, and is plenty accurate enough. It can put every shot in a man sized stump at 50yards. Can carry it easily in a pocket, or it with both clips (w/+1 finger extensions) in a clip on sheath. 0 -
I had the 380 and the 9mm got rid of both of the finger pinching sobs and terrible trigger pull. I like the 380 Firestorm and it eats everything I load with it.[:D][}:)] 0 -
I have the newer PTA3 with around 275rds thru it so far.I never had a misfeed myself, let a friend shoot it and the first round stovepiped....he limpwristed it.Never had a problem after that.Keep them clean and polish the feedramp and there good to go. 0 -
Thanks everyone! I'm convinced and went ahead and purchased a new P3AT .380 (blue on black) from a seller on the other side. It should reach my FFL on Friday. [^]
