Some race gun ideas.

I'm in the best finanicial shape I've ever been in. In part due to my dad's helps and support. He's my best friend and this year I really want to go all out and get him something extra nice. I can't go out and buy him that 10K race motor he wants, so I thought a really nice gun. He's been entering shooting events and He seems to be really getting into it. I'm thinking a race gun, What would be a good race run. Give me some ideas what to look for in one. Also I know he's had his eye on a 9mm AR-15 carbine too. What does a Colt 9mm AR-15 cost?

  Being that a race is going to be a custom gun, the cost will be accordingly. I don't know anyone that does them. You can check carbine AR15 prices on the auction side buy searching completed auctions. They will be cheaper then a race gun, probably in the range of ~1000. You also don't need to get a colt to get a good AR15, there are several manufactures out there that make good products.

  Not usre on the 9mm AR's...you may be better off getting a complete AR lower from DPMS, and finding a 9mm upper.
  
  As far as the pistol goes, if you're not just looking at the 1911-style, take a look at a EAA Witness Competition (or maybe it's called the Limited). A friend has one in 9mm; it's got to be one of the nicest out-of-the box raceguns I've ever seen for under a grand.

  I've always been a CZ fan, now they have a few different pistols out that are real nice.
