i believe that god talks to me. i remember when i was younger,
i would hear something say to me don't do this but i would not listen
i would do as i pleased, lots of problems came of this. i do not
believe god will fix any thing for me, or get me a new truck.
i do belive that if i listen he will give me the ability to do for myself, what i could not or mostly would not do for myself.
you don't have to believe me but i can take you to some places,
and show you doctors, businessmen, preachers, policemen, firemen,
all in the same room with oone thing in common, and they belive that prayer helps.

God has made a believer out of me! Prayer works, the outcome may not always be what you choose, but God listens.[:0][:0]

i spent to0 many years not listen and thinking god nows all i do,
so i can't hide any thing from him, well i still think he does.
some how some way and i am not smart enough to know must less tell
some one else how it works but it does. i believe if every day you ask GOD to help you and others, and remember that all day, He will not speak to you every day but he will show you he is there if you
pay attention to what is going on around you. i am 59 years old,
ispent 35 of those condeming other peoples religion, actions, or any thing else to pull them down to my level. in the last 9 years i have listened hard to people that before i would not even speak to, they have all tought me to pray and get out of the way.

Sure He does. His words may not come to me in a thundering voice from on high, but when I've got a decision to make between right and wrong, I know He's there giving me advice on which way I should go.

My 2 cents, God speaks to us through the Bible. He also speaks to us in many other ways if we only listen.

If you hear the voice of God, then you are:
    1) Suffering from Schitsophrenia (don't ask me, how to spell that word), seek professional help now and surrender your guns to local police.
    2) High on some good stuff (please, let me know where you got it)
    3) Suffering from delusions of greatness. God speaks directly only to a chosen few: Moses, for example. Only the most pure of souls. To all others he sends revelations and epiphanies. You don't hear His voice, for you would not comprehend. You do not see Him. For your limited mind can't grasp His greatness.
    4) Hearing the Tempter. For Lucifer speaks to mortals often, and in guises. He is called a Lord of Lies for a reason.

I would be a little leery of people that say god speaks to them. Historically, numerous nutjobs have claimed devine advice to justify their actions. One exception that I remember was "Son of Sam". The neighbor's German Shepard was the voice that spoke to him.

The last reported "NUT CASE" that said God talked to him was G,W.Bush
He said that God told him to invaded Iraq.

    Christians call it God speaking.

I call it a dialogue with my rational subconscious, which has a tendency to pick up on things my conscious mind is too busy to notice.

Whatever I've got within this dome of mine is called thought.
If it doesn't come from in there, it's called mind-control.

Yes ... and, I think, in my experience the most often it has been the inner prompting of his Holy Spirit to pay attention to something God is trying to get through to me from the Bible.

God often guides his children by giving an inner peace that is beyond our understanding or ability to explain - it is just there! or NOT there! You know the difference.

Here's another example that may not seem like much to your but it was huge for me! ... I set the alarm wrong (PM instead of AM ... not too bright) the other morning, and when I over slept 30 minutes and woke up out of a deep sleep, I had to really rush out the door to get to a very important conference. I shaved in the car, AND I got to the rendez vous place (to travel with a co-worker) just in time, and we got to the conference right on time. I don't even want to think about the mess I'd have been in if the Lord had not woke me up at just the right time!

Interesting question...especially on the gun forum.

There's no question (in the life of a believer) that the Lord speaks to us. Through our conscience, through the reading of God's word, through a still small voice, through meditation/prayer....many of these have been mentioned, and all are true! Those who have NO personal relationship with the Lord also get 'spoken to'...but have a harder time understanding the source without having the 'relationship' first.

I find it interesting however that those who 'pretend' to have "no use for God &/or His voice"...have little-to-no understanding of Him (other than what their unbelieving friends offer-up as councel at the water cooler). Heck, I wouldn't want to hear what they know about financial investments either if they're broke. For anyone interested in 'learning'...there's a great book called THE CASE FOR CHRIST. Written by someone who also had no understanding of (or use for) God either, but decided to investigate Him, kind of like an investigative reporter would follow the fact of a story. It's good.

    Yes.

    Usually after too much tequila.

It's been awhile since I heard from Her, but this Spring I'm having my gardener put in a few more burning bushes.

So I've got that going for me...

"Preface: "...I am convinced that one chief cause why some do not grow more in grace is that they do not take time to hold converse with the Lord in secret. Spiritual, divine truth does not thus become our possession at once. Although I understand what I read, although I consent heartily to it, although I receive it, it may speedily fade away and be forgotten, unless by private meditation I give it time to become fixed and rooted in me, to become united and identified with me. Christians, give yourselves, give your Lord time to transfer His heavenly thoughts to your inner, spiritual life. When you have read a portion, set yourselves in silence before God. Take time to remain before Him until He has made His word living and powerful in your souls. Then does it become the life and the power of your life..."

Elkoholic, god must have given you the 50 year finance tables! Why don't you give us your bona fidaes about how you became such a major force in financing. I'm sure the whole world is waiting on why you think it is better to pay $200.000 in interest than $50,000. Well wait a minute, that is exactly what you subscribe to, draw the interest out as long as possible. Tom

    It's not a good "thing"
    to make fun of someone's
religion or if he/she speaks to God.
We've got to be kind and curteous
(to a point)to the beliefs of others.
I believe that God helps those
    who help themselves.

rong, does that mean we have to be kind and courteous regarding those madmen who attacked us on 9/11? Or, does it mean that we only have to respect the God who speaks to you?

Yes, God speaks to me. I have faith and trust in him to guide me; I pray for his will to be done in my life and I ask his help in overcoming and dealing with the burdens I carry daily. His communication is not always verbal, but when I ask him to open my eyes and heart to his will, I am able to see his communication to me, although I don't always understand it.

    Does God Speak to You?

    Perhaps the question should be:

Do we listen, when God speaks to us?
