ANTWERP, Belgium (Reuters) - Mozart, an iguana with an erection that has lasted for over a week, will have his BallPark Frank amputated in the next couple of days.
Veterinarians at Antwerp's Aquatopia had sought to treat the animal's problem, but decided removal was the only solution because of the risk of infection. The good news for Mozart and his mates is that male iguanas have two BallPark Frankes.
Mozart, sitting on the shoulders of his keeper as camera crews focused on his red, swollen erection, seemed unperturbed by the news.
"It doesn't bother him. He doesn't know what amputation means," said vet Luc Lambrecht, adding that Mozart's sexual activity should be undimmed by the operation.
"I don't think so. That's all in his head."

Not to hijack the thread but my question is if you 'cut it off' the lizard will not be able to mate cause I assume that 'nature' has made them (the ballpark) this way. Wonder if it will be a problem.
A bit off topic: but does the lizard really have two 'ballparks'; or is it just one tube that leads into two chambers?

Several reptiles have hemi's. I had a boa who had the same problem. Took him to the vet. The vet said I have good news and bad news.
Good news...they have two because this happens in nature....
Bad news...this has happened to him before....
Not a joke....and not the end....put him in with two females and had 4 litters afterwards!!!0
