More Liberal Dogooder Stuff
We get our tv news out of Seattle, and this morning they were telling of this crew of dogooders who spent the whole night up counting homeless people. WTH??

We are getting real cold weather in Asheville these days. There was a report on the Asheville tv news yesterday that the main downtown library is crowded with homeless people. They said that in the cold weather, half of the people in the library are homeless.
The library director said that they had about a dozen reclining chairs in the library. These have all been removed, as at 9am homeless people would pile into them, and sleep all day.
The director said that homeless people are getting drunk in the library, and some are panhandling. He is concerned that patrons of the library are being run off by these bums.
Two years ago, homeless people were sleeping in the main Asheville Post Office. They were routinely urinating and defecating inside the lobby. It got so bad that the Post Office employees who opened the building had to start every day with thirty minutes of mop duty.
The homeless bums were too sorry to walk thirty feet outside to take a crap.
The solution: Close the Post Office at 5:30 pm and re open at 9am.
If you worked all day, and wanted to check your PO box at 7pm, too bad.0 -
Down here in Florida a church let some homeless people set up tents on the church property and the cops went in and cut the tents up with box cutters . Their reason was the tents were creating a Fire Hazard.. We have thousands of empty buildings around here, I dont see why they dont use them to house the homeless and someone figure out which are mentally unstable and those that are able to work. It is a real growing problem all over the USA.[:(] 0 -

If you would feed the homeless to the hungry soon there will be none of either.

Being insane and dirty are not sins I'm willing to condemn a man to death for. Even as little as his death would mean.
If by some lousy twist of fate it came down to "dead homeless guy or severe inconvenience to me" I'd still rather take the inconvenience than a dead body. I don't know what made them the way they are, but they probably didn't wake up one day and decide to become a reeking freak.0 -

In NYC, volunteers regularly go out and count the homeless people so that the City can ramp up temporary shelter and food when the temperature drops or when it snows. Unfortunately, they cannot account for all of the homeless people, particularly those living below ground in abandoned subway tunnels, on platforms and walkways, etc. 0 -

actually i have heard that homless figures are the lowest in 20 years. i think barbara streisand should just house them all, she has like 3 home that are 15,000 sq ft each0 -
Since the title is "Liberal Dogooder Stuff."
Asheville has decided to cure the homeless problem. The City of Asheville is going to provide housing for every homeless person. It is a ten year plan.
Let us see how this works. A few years back they went out and counted the number of homeless, as best they could. Then they began building housing for them. It sounds like they will be apartments where 4 homeless people share a single dwelling.
So, after ten years they will have built housing for all the homeless in town.
Then, the word will get out that Asheville provides free housing for the homeless. Homeless people in Atlanta, and Nashville, and Greenville will stick out their thumb, or get on the Greyhound, and come on up to Asheville so they can have a free apartment.
We will wind up with more homeless people than ever.
Meanwhile, the downtown library stinks of body odor and cheap wine, and the downtown post office is a public latrine, thanks to the homeless people who flock to those locales.
Property taxes are raised on the citizenry to pay for the homeless housing.
Michael Savage says that "Liberalism is a mental disorder." He must be referring to the Asheville city council.0 -

It's pretty easy to become homeless nowadays; you're sailing along, making $25-30,000 at your job, some liberal piece of crap raises your property taxes, some other dogooder offers to pay for a boost in teacher pay by raising your property taxes, another idiot decides to pay for the new streetcar system by raising your property taxes, and before you know it; you can't afford the taxes and you lose your house. Then the Mortgage co. ruins your credit rating, your car is repossessed, your bank accounts are zeroed out, your credit cards are cut off, and you're down to couch surfing at friends' places until they get sick of you, and VIOLA! you're a bum!
The road back is much easier though, and with all the programs, meals, web access/mail, housing and medical care, job assistance & placement; you're back to paying some taxes in no time! If that's what you truly want, otherwise just roam around and grab all the free sstuff while other folks pay for your leisure!0 -

...By the "do-gooders" count, the homeless rate has risen to about 6,000.
The count 30+ years ago...was around 2,000.
A little over 30 years ago, I went and lived with these people 24/7, on the street, for 10 days, for research purposes; for a paper while in college.
...as per the homeless at that time...
...98% were on the street because of a broken relationship. NOT that they were on the street because of THAT, but because the broken relationship "drove" them to alcohol; which led to them being homeless.
...A little over 90% were alcohoholics.
...There was adequate food, shelter available, IF they wanted it, but only around 30% chose to take advantage of it.
...Almost to the person, they all liked the street better than the responsibility of living "in" society...[;)]
...from what I learned back then (un-scientific) the majority of these people did indeed make choices, that directly...put them on the strret, and chose to remain there...[;)]

This "liberal dogooder" stuff sounds like what Jesus would have done. All you "compassionate conservatives" remember Jesus, don't you? The guy who associated with the poor and cared for them, those people that you spit on and step over today? What good "Christians" you all are, with your disgust and hatred of the poor.
