    It would seem too small too me too, but I think Remington has a rifle chambered in .17 Remington, I guess they're answer to the 17 craze. Regardless of how fast you can push a 17 caliber, I just dont think the bullets have the weight on them to drop a coyote quickly. However, I shoot my coyotes with a .22-250, so I wouldn't know.

    I don't know what the spitfire is, but I can tell you the old .17 Rem is pretty fair coyote fodder and a excellent fox and bobcat round, Ive killed coyotes out to 275 yds with mine and it's always a one hole pelt, unlike most of them with my 22-250

    The 17 cals especially the 17rem and Mach IV are explosive rounds. They may not carry much weight, but they explode.

    I use the 17HMR, head shots only. Of course now that I have the 243, the HMR can stay in the safe until squirrel season.
