UPS man brought me a....

tomh.
brand new Sony VAIO laptop today.
Problem is, I didn't order one. Somebody did though, and paid for it with my credit card.
Jumped through a bunch of hoops and found out that he bought another one (but not as nice) from a different merchant. Nobody knows where that one is.
Apperaently the scammers buy the thing and then after the credit card charge goes through, they call back and change the shipping address. Guess this idiot wasn't fast enough! Cause I got it! HaHaHa!
Credit card company says they'll take care of it either way.
And I have the merchandise from one transaction and a refund from the other. A big relief!
But the credit card company says the other charge hasn't posted yet, so they can't accept the credit.
Is it any wonder there's so much fraud? So much bureaucracy!

    Glad it worked out. That's crazy.

    My parents had a shipment of PDA's delivered one day. Same thing.

    If you have good security on your PC, how do they get your card number and the last 3 digits on the back? Ive often wondered that?

    Your credit card company is not doing it's homework then. You'll get your money back though.

    Hell sometimes they have the number before you even get the credit card, happend to my mom signed up for a new card before she even got it somone had used it. And no it wasn't stolen in the mail it came unopened.

    Woman at the credit card company says that happens some times. Suffice it to say we didn't stick with that credit card company.

    Same thing happened to me a couple of months ago. UPS dropped off a Sirus radio system for my truck.....but I wasn't the one that ordered it. Good thing was the CC Company took care of it ASAP.

    I suggest you do a free credit check if you're eligible.

    Cancel that card number and closely monitor all others. Look for other charges not as obvious as a laptop.
