Stats on the ship.
Capacity is officially a conservative 11.000 TEU (One TEU is roughly one 20-foot container) - Further calculations states the fully loaded capacity to be around 13.000-15.000 TEU.
Of these containers - there is capacity enough for at least 1.000 refrigerated containers.
That is 22 Containers side by side - and stacked 8 high.
There is one 14 cylinder main-engine, built by W?rtsil? and the type is RT-flex.
The paint is a silicone-based paint that is slightly more expencive than regular paint - this also reduces friction between the water and the ship - thereby saving 1.200 metric tons of fuel each year.
The ship is 398 meters long - or 1305 feet long.
It is 56 meters wide - or 184 feet wide.
The height is 100 meters, or 328 feet high.
Tonnage is 156.907 metric tons
The whole ship is manned by....... only 13 people. !!0 -

I think there are tankers that are bigger, but that is surely the largest Container ship. I have worked on the fastest ones, the SL-7 class ships that were eventually sold to the Navy - they had two separate planst, twin screws, and were capable of nearly 40 knots. They were steam plants.
When I started sailing, a crew was 56 men. Just the deck load of the Emma would take three ships in the old days - The last "Big" ships I worked on would only allow six container cranes to work at one time...the one shown here has eleven!!0 -
MAN Burmeister & Wain Alpha Diesel makes an equally impressive engine - it reaches 105000 brakehorsepower - in only 9 cylinders.
That's their K98 model.
The engine alone weighs in at 150 tons I think it was..0 -
