Foster care
Does anybody participate here or know of anyone who does? Been toying with the idea for a while now, wondering if anyone has experience.

alot of red tape and personal questions....u cant have any alcohol in the house or smoke..
They should have people out there having babies left and right go through the same process and guarantee there wouldnt be that many babies being born0 -

Doesn't it depend on the state though?

Hello, My wife and I have three foster kids now. We have had them since march. and they will more than likly never go back to there mother. It is a lot of red tape and BS. But you will be helping some kid that needs it. We have A 6yr girl, 4yr boy and 8 month girl. All from one family. They do not want to go back. They say they want to stay with us. But if we adopt them we will have to pay for all the child care and with our 7 yr old son it would cost us about $450 a week. I don't know how we would do that.
You do get some money but it is not enough to raise them. The boy is very head strong and it is hard sometimes. The baby girl is one of the best babies I have every been around. But we had a boy and girl about a year ago and we could not handle them. They went to a home with other kids that have special needs and a few months ago they had to split them because the girl was hurting the little boy.
It is not all bad. Make sure you are ready it can be very hard but it can be great.0 -

The advice:
Say as little as possible to social services. I think the people who take those jobs are people who think they want to save the world by controling others. Once they found out we were Religious they started asking ignorant questions.
Do you allow the kids to watch tv?
Do you allow the kids to dance? I was like what the heck? I learned later it was cause I made a anti MTV comment, saying it had inapropriate stuff. (Yes we do have MTV in the house and no the kids cant watch it alone.)
We were amazed at the anti religious bias, the extreemly low standards social services had for the children. They would rather the kids be allowed to "be themselves" at 6 years old than to be "forced" to spend family time on Sunday. Reason - Social worker had free tickets to the local theme park and wanted to give them to the kids, we said thanks but no thanks, we will go another time, Sunday we decompress and are having a bbq with church friends. The social worker looked at us like we were killing the poor babys.
The bio parent was Mormon, and wanted her kids raised Mormon. She developed drug addiction and asked us to take the children as she had grown up around us and knew us. Social services had other ideas. They are too involved in the kids lives. One social worker would pull one way, then we'll get another social worker who will pull another direction.

I think it takes a very special family to take on being foster parents. My grandparents always had foster children when I was younger. The kids always had special needs and I applaude those that take those kids in. I know I don't have what it takes. 0
