Senator Webb?s aid caught with loaded handgun
There is a lot of noise on the news about Senator Webb's (D-VA) aid being caught attempting to carrying the Senator's loaded handgun into the Russell Senate building.
The Senator says it was his legal firearm, and that he has a concealed carry permit, and that he has always supported the 2nd amendment. The aid says that he didn't know the handgun was in the brief case he was carrying. The Senator claims it was all a mistake, and that the aid inadvertently picked up the wrong brief case. I think it is great that the senator defends our right to posses and carry a firearm, even in a city where only legal for Police and politicians to carry (for now), but what I take issue with is a safety issue.
None of the media talking heads are mentioning anything about the senator having lost track of this loaded firearm to the point another individual was able to posses it without his knowledge. What would he be saying if it was a child who came across this misplaced handgun?
Sounds like Senator Webb is leaning on the Barry Switzer defense of being brain dead.

The Senator is no better than anyone else. If Senator Webb was a Republican, Harry Reid and Dick Durbin would be demanding his resignation.

I read his response to claims that Allen was more pro guns. I am becoming to despise to political code words like "SPORTSMAN", which he used.

In what way? His desire to raise taxes, his hatred for Bush, disloyalty to the troops, his vision for utter defeat, his use of personal slurs...

Well, I guess his profession for support of the Second Ammendment, while I don't trust it, is better than than Durbin desire for socialism or O'Bama desire for "sensible" BS. No, it's not much better. I would have rather seen Allen elevcted in Virginia, but Illinois's senators are a extreme as any from California or New England.0 -
I had very quiet dinner with him once when he was SecNav. He was tough as nails and much like a junk yard dog. I didn't much like him but I was impressed with his toughness....I don't think he'll be growing a vagina any time soon. I'd be hard pressed to believe that he would turn on the 2nd Amendment.Beach 0 -
