Wis. Festival Sells Deep-Fried testicles
ELDERON, Wis. (AP) - Around here, it may be tough to pass up anything deep-fried.
Wisconsinites have deep-fried cheese curds, candy bars and Twinkies. They now have deep-fried livestock testicles, too.
More than 300 people paid $5 for all-you-can-eat goat, lamb and bull testicles Saturday at the ninth annual testicle Festival at Mama's Place Bar and Grill in Elderon in central Wisconsin.
"Once you get over the mental (aspect) of what you're eating, it's just like eating any other food, and it tastes good," Buster Hoffman said.
Festival founder Nancy Fenske said the festival grew out of her late husband Roger's birthday party 12 years ago. They decided to have "a nut fry" at Mama's Place after bringing back lamb fries from a trip to Montana.
The event grew every year and now they fry up to 100 pounds of testicles, she said.
"What else can you do in a small town?" Fenske said.
Butch Joubert, 58, likes the parts sandwiched between bread with tartar sauce. They're not so different from regular meatballs also served at the festival, he said.
"After a few beers, you can't really tell the difference," Joubert said.

I once saw a Blue Heeler/Australian Shepherd mix crawl under the gate at the chute and take them one by one as they were cut. She would pick them up and take them to her litter of pups and give them to the pups.0 -
Love them Rocky Mountain Oysters! I prefer swine testis the best. Excellent smashed in between bread and butter. Turkey fries are very rich. Watch out on how many you eat. 0 -
Calf fries or lamb fries great tasting rites of spring.
Used to be a big party in Wilsaw Montana called "The testicle festival" Jerry Jeff Walker even performed there one year

Umm! Lamb fries are good eating! Stopped at a steak house in Fort Worth a couple of years ago and they were on the menu as an appetizer. Got an order. Daughter loved them until I told her what they were. Son just kind of looked at me funny and told me to pass him the dish. He ate about 6 of them! Most people, if they don't know what they are, would like them. 0 -

I was at a derby party back in college and this girl I knew showed up with a covered dish full of tenderloin fritters (that's what she called them). I was liquered up and hungry and ate dang near all of them. She started laughing and told me they were hog testicles. Her dad worked at the Fisher's meat packing plant in Louisville. They were dang good until she told me what they were. 0
