Urgent Nissan motor help needed Update to update

I have a Nissan N-41 trackhoe with a SD-25 engine, which is a 4cyl desil. I had it overhauled recently but the wrencher did not tighten the end nut and it flew away, the nut on the end of the crankshaft which holds the pulley on. My local Nissan auto parts guy said he cannot look it up since it is a commercial engine. I think that is BS but what do I know.
Can anyone of you out there give me a leg up on how to find out where to go to get this part or where to find a part number? Any help appreciated. I have a high $$$ machine sidetracked for a dollar nut. Thanks for assistance. Tom

PS Can any Nissan dealership access a Nissan website and get part numbers for any engine?? Just wondering since I needed a thermostat once and another dealer found it right away? T

The Nissan parts man in Grenada MS was the one who said he cannot get parts, but the very nice lady at Nissan in Batesville MS got off her A$$and found the ONE nut in the whole USA in California. It is now on the way to Batesville. When it arrives, I'll check with the gal in B'ville to see if any Nissan dealer could find that part. If so, I will write the owner of the dealership in Grenada and tell him what I think about his dealership and the parts dept in general. I felt like he was shooting me a line when I went there but was not really sure.
Why did I not buy American?? What the heck is American anymore?? Anyway, I bought it because it was a good machine at a good price. My difficulty was a wrencher who did not tighten a nut right the first time. I'm sure this has never happened to anyone other than me?? Tom

OK, I received the nut from Nissan in Oxford and it the nut I need. I have wasted numerous hours and efforts trying to find this nut since the parts man in Grenada said it could not be found. The nice lady in Oxford just used the engine number (SD25) to find the part. The owner of the Nissan dealership in Grenada is going to get a letter from me telling him about the poor service from his parts dept. Probably won't do any good but I want to point out to him what a sorry dept. man he has. Probably his brother!! Tom

    the threads are metric i am sure. find a nut at a fastener distributor. you may need a hard flat washer. be sure it fits inside the pulley. i am not there to see exactly what it looks like? when you put it together use a torque wrench. find a chart that gives you the size and torque spec. be sure the threads are not damaged. when you put it on clean the threads good with brake cleaner. use lock tight on the threads. find a good mechanic to help you if needed. ask for certifications or ASE paperwork. that usually means the mechanics have brain function. stay away from those cave men. kilz

    I'm sure he can do without the smart ass comments! He already has the Nissan, and needs help getting it fixed. A comment like that is like kicking a man when he is already down.

    Good luck finding your part. I know nothing about a Nissan track hoe. All I have ever been around are John Deere and Cat.

    The US Air Force has JEEP tow tractors with those Nissan Engines......they quit making parts for the military a decade or two ago....American ingenuity keeps them running.

    Try it.


    (that means weld the dang pulley to the crank and run it til it dies.)

    Go to your local nut/bolt store (not home depot),They will have a gauge that will tell you the threads per inch,pitch etc.Ask to borrow it for a few hours,Buy 2of the appropreate nuts, give the guy a 5 spot and then go to work.DONT weld the pulley on the crank.

    yep... if all's you are looking for is a nut to put on your crankshaft, you can find it from a nut manufacturer. a nut is a nut is a nut.

    get a higher grade nut (tell them what it's for) use some loktit and you're good to go.

    Philip & bushmaster, If only it was that simple!! Did all the above. Fastenall could not help me, nor could anyone I asked. It was a Nissan motor but the nut was 16tpi and best I can remember 23.7MM (.93IN) across the threads of the shaft. Fastenall even GAVE me a nut to try. Was close but 14tpi just didn't cut it. Hopefully, the nut from Nissan will be here Mon or Tue and I will know for sure if I have the right one. How about $10.75 for just one little nut! They know what they are doing. Tom

    you can buy a thread pitch gauge. it's probably metric thread pitch (as in M10, M12, etc) and not tpi, since you use metric wrenches on every bolt and nut on the engine, right?

    then you can try a few different diameters. at least you got the pitch narrowed down.

    when you get that right, and it's going to take several tries, then you can get the nut how thick you want.

    nobody said it was gonna be easy! that's what you get when you can't bring the part in to match it up.

    10.75 doesnt suprise me.I got 3 kubota tractors and a kubota excavator.The hydraulic track drive motor went out on the excavator...If memory serves it was about 2500 bucks.4 months later the other one went out[:(!].Needless to say the kubota guy loves me.

    just posting before reading replies. not sure if they can look up screws on things, but if you have the Vin number when you call, and call several dealerships if possible, and get assumptions. if anything call the local junkyard, and if anything place a want add on this site, can't guarantee if you will get a hit or not, but its good for people finding what you need or rather junkyards all a cross the world

    i have used this numerous times. pretty cheap offers even compared to eBay, some will even haggle a little

    ok forget vin but the site still stands but it might work better for use with a car lololol just trying to help
