Long weekend...
Had drill this weekend. The whole battalion went down to Fort McCoy, and my company had the "honor" of playing OpFor against Alpha and Charlie companies.
Alpha was totally jacked up, and their CO wanted to train until 2 am. Charlie was pretty much spot-on except for a few minor glitches, and were done by 5 pm. After that, we cleaned up the range, and started setting up our sleeping areas for the night.
I was "lucky" in that I got to sleep all night last night, but it did come at a cost: I drove the 5-ton down there, and I had to drive it back to New Richmond this morning. That was a very long and tiring trip, as the truck topped out at 67 mph with the pedal floored going downhill with a tailwind and ten midgets pushing. Then I had this retard in a Ford Escape Hybrid that passed me and then slowed down. And by the time I had enough speed to pass HIS ass and started going around him, he sped up until I didn't have room to get back in the convoy, so I had to slow down and pull in behind him again. It wasn't until about 20 or 30 miles later that I had enough speed to make a run at him again, but this time he was stuck behind a semi, so I was able to pass him AND the semi while going up-hill. [:D][:D][:D]
We rolled into the New Richmond armory about 11 am or noon, and we proceeded to clean weapons from that point until about 5:30 pm. Nothing about today was fun, from the 20-30 degree temperatures that I woke up to, to the drive from McCoy (also called "Coymo"...think "Gitmo"), to the drive home while having to smell 3 days of reek wafting off me.
I'm going to take a shower...as soon as I find the energy to finish taking my uniform off...[xx(][xx(][xx(]

I remember, and actually miss those days sometimes. 0 -
I was at Volk Field a couple of years ago helping out another unit get thru an ORI. Been up to the Ft. McCoy/Volk Field area about 4 times and really like the area. Too bad I'm set to retire this summer. Gonna miss it. 0
