Sad thing is ... it's not old, for a bridge.

I'd imagine we are going to see more of this since our
roads and highways are approaching gridlock every
    day in our cities.

Just came back from Portland, OR at 'rush hour' and it's
worse than many places I've been. Getting pretty bad all
    over - stuff wears out.

was it built in the 60's when few motors were about,& the trucks wern't so heavy etc.. & was it recently undergoing resroration work??

all will be well..[;)]..its a wake up call for the civil engineers.

Well, as I understand it ... they were resurfacing part of it - no major
structural work. I believe it was built in 1967.

The problem is the AMOUNT of traffic is stressing some of these bridges
out. As I recall, about 140,000 cars a day cross that bridge. That might
be a factor. Lots of vibration stress on lots of bridge designs.

    It's a crap shoot.

Traffic in OryGun is really terrible, all over the state.

It takes 3 hours to make a lane change.

We do however, love bicycles and often have riders 8 or 10 abreast riding down the centers of our roads.

Also, a lot of cattle wonder around on our highways, and many bridges collapse on a regular basis, because we spend all of our tax money nurturing the vast crowds of criminal mexicans that live here.

Come visit Orygun, but come armed.

Real sad. Scary thing is, i was just on the bridge 3 weeks ago. My heart goes out to those families of the missing motorists.

Minneapolis / St. Paul used to use incredible amounts of salt in the winter (this according to wifey who grew up there). Cars rusted away quickly, etc.

Dollars to dog biscuits that there will be a lot of spalled concrete. and rusted through re-bar found during the investigation.
