USED 10mm, or .45

want something used cause this is going to be a range gun to shoot for fun, price range 400-600. need help deciding on which one, been looking at local stores and here but haven't really seen something i like.

been looking into a Glock for one or the other but really don't like the way they fill and since its (used i ain't helping that stupid company) but then again it may grow on me.

i was thinking Sig but i haven't seen a 10mm in Sig. i do like them and there durability from what i can gather is great.

i was hoping to get a nice cheap Colt but there not nothing i want everyone handling at the range (not that anyone there would drop it or anything but i can and my friends can go marathons with shooting

now what about an EAA witness, i have shot a friends of mine in 10mm and it shot nice. but does anyone have any personal experience with them? this is what i am considering for my price range one or the other

    I have not personally shot the witness in 10mm, but I own a .40cal and .45. They are perhaps the best inexpensive pistols out there. I carry them and they are truely reliable and accurate(more accurate than me). I plan on getting a 10mm Witness one day. I already own two Colt delta elites and I love the 10mm cartridge. The only problem is ammo availabilty.I am currently having one of the deltas fitted with a 40 cal barrel and mag,spring setup so I can switch out ammo. I like having the choice of getting .40 cal for it which is easier to find.

    The witness if a very fine gun, accurate, reliable and it is one of the only auto's that properly fit my hand. Try one of each and see which one fits you the best, as I always say "the gun that fits you best is the best fit for you"

    any chance that the EAA witness can be changed from 10mm to say a .40? that right there would make my mind up right there probably for the most part. that or a Delta Elite, now that i know the barrel and stuff can be fitted for a different cal that's just raised it another notch in my book.

    What about Sig i know they can be changed from on cal to another but do they make a 10mm? i go check right now matter of fact, may give them a call to, if they do and see if its interchangeable w/ other cals.

    Check the EAA website. I believe they can.

    For that price you can get a new Springfield XD 45. That would be my choice. Other than that, probably a Springfield 1911.

    For all around and the range shooting, I would consider the price and availability of 10MM ammo. I dont own a 10MM but no one here has any on hand, seems they usually order it.

    yeah 10mm isn't readily available but its fun to shoot. i may get it then just buy conversion kit if possible to shoot cheaply when i plan on shooting alot

    I have and shoot the Witness 10mm and I love it,little expensive to target shoot but it will get the job well done.It's a good go between the 45 and the 40.[:D][}:)][:0]When it's barking it's doing all the talking you need.

    I'm pretty sure Sig doesn't make a 10mm and if you did get the .40S&W Sig and tried to "up" it it might break the frame. Going from 10mm to .40S&W is easier on the gun.

    In your price range you might look in to the 10mm S&W. I got a 1076 (Commander size) and she's just right in my hand and everything.

    But like it's been mentioned if you like the EEA in 10mm get the barrel and magazine in .40S&W. Or get the 10mm now and later get the .40S&W parts later.

    As for the Colts I'd buy one at the "right" price.

    The Witness has a very low resale value. I had one that I had trouble selling.

    there won't be reselling this. its going to be a range gun for as long as possible

    I own the witness in the 10mm/45acp convertible. Both calibers shoot great and I would much rather have a 10mm for a defense gun. A quality made gun that isn't expensive to buy. The 10mm isn't cheap to shoot but deals on ammo can be had or just reload. BambiHunter is the 10mm expert as far as I'm concerned and maybe he'll jump in here to offer his expertise.

    OK did some research on EAA witness, made in Italy (family is from there so that's a ++++) and to top it off the P class pistol is very versatile and i mean very, it can be changed to a 10mm, 9mm, .40, .45, and .22. so i think i may just do some more research and see how much the different conversions are and buy something smaller or may just get the 10mm. friend got one and it was 450 or around there after tax's

    UPDATE: ANY STEEL FRAME CAN BE CONVERTED TO THE ABOVE, ALSO I MAY BUY A 38 SUPER IF ITS CHEAPER OR THE 10MM IF THE PRICE ISN'T THAT MUCH DIFFERENT.
