No... but you can tell they're full of BS just from the name. "HD" is just a marketing buzzword that means nothing unless you're talking about televisions.

I thought this thread was about the radios that come on the New HD motorcycles.

    HD Radio

    From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

HD Radio is a brand name of a method of digital transmission of audio on the FM and AM radio bands.

The technology was developed by iBiquity Digital Corporation. The Federal Communications Commission selected HD Radio (a hybrid system in which digital signals are sent along with the analog carrier) as the standard for local area broadcast of signals within the United States. It can, at least with FM stations, offer multiple programs on one channel and works on the same frequencies allocated to analog radio stations. iBiquity Digital Corporation claims the system approaches CD quality sound and offers reduced interference and static.

    ... it's as simple as that.[8D]

Repackaged FM and AM. Nothing to new, A few AM stations tried 10-15 years ago the same thing dubbing it AM STEREO. However the cost back then was only do able for the huge market stations.

I was wondering the same thing about HD.
Don't want to go through the expense until I learn more about it and if there are "hundreds" of stations, as the ads claim.

Exactly- The gurus at Clear channel and other large market AM/FM station owners are using this as a wedge to compete with satellite radio.

I have personally have gone to satellite radio because in my area FM is dominated by Mexican stations and the other music programing is crap.
At least with satellite radio I can hear all 300 channels of what I wish to chose from 24/7 in any part of this great country.

Ditto!!! I love my sat radio. Go anywhere and still listen to your favorite stations. Pick the type of music for the moment. I just got HD cable and it is awesome. I have been looking at my 60" Hitachi without it and now I have it. Ya'll come over sometime and we'll fire up the grill and watch a race or something.
