    Free? No. Low-cost? Yes.

I've been using Registry Mechanic for several years and been very happy. I think it costs about $15 or $20 per year.

I use Tweaknow Regcleaner, but it never has found anything.

I tried what I thought to be a free program, Registryfix, and it found 840 registry problems but wanted me to join to fix them. I think it was like 38 bucks. I want to do it for free.

Anyone know of a good free registry cleaner?

Go with RegCleaner not Tweaknow (made by the same folks). RegCleaner does a lot more, is simple to use, and quite effective. I have RegCleaner 4.3.

    Find it here.

I use Ccleaner for cleaning up cookies and the like. Sometimes use it 'issues' reg cleaner.

For cleaning out the registry. I use RegScrub XP. This registry cleaner has a restore function built in. I have been using it on over 40 computers over the last year and have had no issues.

    Thanks guys.

I downloaded and ran the CCleaner. It found around 400 registry problems. I deleted the Tweaknow and will stick with the CCleaner for now.

I also run Ad-aware, Spybot Search and Destroy and AVG anti-virus.

If anyone wants good free programs, I think these are well worth it.
