I smoke socially- but even after a weekend of hanging out with my chain smoking friends, I find I crave smokes. For days! So I can only imagine your struggle. More power to you man, hope you stay strong. 0 -

Best he's quit before getting really attched to em, like a
3-4pack a dayer like myself. Think I'm ready to try weening myself
some too. Figure by now I've easily smoked a Jag.[;)]0 -
I quite fifteen months ago and I think I'm glad I did. I enjoyed smoking, but it was the dumbest thing I ever did.
I know that my family, who are all nonsmokers, are ecstatic that their clothing doesn't smell, and the basement doesn't have a cloud suspended in it in the evening.
Amazing how much less often the screens on the computers and TVs need to be washed now, and how much longer the basement fridge stays white between cleanings.
I've not burned holes in any clothing, had no hot coals to duck if a gust of wind blows in the truck, don't need to look for a place to throw a butt without littering someone's yard (I actually care). I haven't had to run back in the house to get the stuff I left on the kitchen counter, or make sure I've got spares in the console glove compartment of the truck. I haven't stepped out of a side door to grab a smoke when I was somewhere that didn't allow or didn't accept smoking.
Yep, I think I'm glad I quit.[:)]0 -

Congrats! 0 -
I was a 3-packer before I quit cold turkey in 1982. Hmmm, with all that savings, I am sure I can find me a new toy [^]. 0 -
Congrats, hard habit to break.....I quit 26 years ago just before I got married. 0 -
Mark Twain said, "Quitting smoking is the easiest thing in the world to do. I've done it a thousand times."
Stay quit!
I quit back in January (second time for me). Here's what I bought with 100 days worth of cigarette money:

Try my new copout. I've named it the "Clinton method"!....Don't inhale! No kidding! Haven't cut down on the amount or saved any money yet but after 2 weeks I can now cut all the grass without stopping to passout. (used to take me 2 days [xx(])

I cleaned the window in front of my computer yesterday. When I sprayed the window cleaner on it the yellow stuff just started rolling down like you would not believe and the paper towel was pee yellow when done!
I myself have cut way back and am hopeing to get them put down for good pretty soon!
But I have a hard time as I cannot use patches or anything like that as they cause my blood pressure to sky rocket! And I am allready on BP meds to keep it down. This is a shame because I do not even crave a smoke if I am wearing a patch, but it only takes about a week of wearing them to be up in the range of haveing a stroke!0 -
I started dipping snuff 35 years ago to quit smoking. It worked. I'm up to a can a day. 0 -
I have a Joe Camel windbreaker that I wear to town in damp or cool weather. It has a big picture of Joe on the back and the Camel logo on the front. I do get some funny looks. One lady in the bank said, "You ought to be ashamed to wear that." I told her, "Lady, I smoked Camels for twenty-four years, quit, and now my doctor tells me my lungs are in perfect shape. I wear this as a token of respect to Joe." She had no reply. 0 -
i used to dip skoal, Cherry, or blueberry, or vanilla, or mint in high school to not get caught smoking. it was this big huge craze, everyone was doin it. 0 -
Four months for me. Gave up dipping the same time. I sure wish Dawnie would quit. 0 -

The smokes ain't bad. But to give up the chew is gonna be a real bear.0 -
After my last bypass surgery I had a BAD drug reaction and I ended up being intubated for 23 days, with a total of 31 days in ICU and 54 total in the hospital. That got me off of the smokes for good!!! 0 -

I found that no matter how many times I tried to quit, it was because someone else wanted me to. Never worked.
One day something clicked in my brain, and I haven't smoked since. I have concluded that quitting has to be INNER directed. YOU have to want to.
By the way, when I reached that point, it was a cinch.
