Iran's kook-filled regime is now acting publicly as any other terrorist organization in the Middle East. Taking hostages, forcing them to write BS letters to the press, and just trying to divert attention from their other evil activities. They have become more bold and defiant. I'm afraid the situation is going to get worse before it gets better.

Iran's president Azzaholagoathumper was one of the terrorists who participated in the kidnapping of our diplomats in the 1970s when PeanutBoy was POTUS.

What he's doing now is the same thing. Heck, it worked for him back then, it should work for him now.

Tony Blair is acting like a sniveling schoolgirl. He wants to pass resolutions in the UN.

Meanwhile, France and Russia will vote against any resolution.

But, at least someone will feel better.

Unfortuanately, Blair has seen what has happened to Bush in the U.S. and doesn't want the same thing to happen to him. Blair has been taking heat in the U.K for supporting Bush. He is trying to exhaust all diplomatic routes before lobbing a few cruise missles into Tehran.

Yea, they really showed now that they are a pure terrorist nation. Forced confessions and parading the hostages on TV shows the rest of the world what they are made of. In my opinion they are at a breaking point. The united nations decision and the sanctions have backed them into a corner.

I find it hard to believe that the British would stray into Iran's waters.
those limeys have been sailing before the USA and most of the European nations existed as nation-states

I really think we should share our nuclear technology with them.

I disagree. Blair has nothing to lose. He's a lame duck, he's already set his resignation date. What might they do, force him to resign sooner? So what!

Thatcher was a woman and she had balls when she was PM. She was willing to go to war over some rather worthless land (Falkland Islands) to prove a point. Blair should be doing the same thing.

I don't think it is in the interest of the British Sailors & Marines or the British citizens or the rest of the world to negotiate with the Iranian president or his cronies. No way!

I don't really care if Britain did violate Iran's 12 mile waters, Britain was doing a job for the safety of the international community, Iran should have thanked them and gave them treats and sent them back to the Cornwallis. And now allowing Iran to "bargain" for the release of these guys is absolutely embarrassing, no questions asked the entire world should be raising hell. Iran is run by a fanatical quasi religious group of sweeties and should be hit with all mailed packages no ground troops, simply eliminating all of their capacity to fly, produce electricity, cross bridges, make anything etc. We defineately have the capacity to blast away at any infrustructure they have and reduce their ability to gloat quite a bit. Then take over the oil fields for the eminent domain principle

Yes, let's attack them just like we did Iraq. We all know how well that has turned out.

I guess I don't understand diplomacy as practiced in the 21st century. What would be wrong with Blair apologizing, saying whatever is needed to get his troops home safely and then taking whatever military reprisal he sees fit?

Because the apology accomplishes nothing. Do you really think that all Tehran is looking for is an "I'm sorry?"

In the meantime, the Iranians have engaged in true terrorist fashion, have violated international law by parading the "captives" and forcing them to "confess."

The longer the hostage situation goes on, the richer Iran gets and attention is divert from their nuclear ambitions for awhile. How much has gas gone up in the last week since this all went down?

i think Blair would like to blow iran away, he is probably covering all the bases, with the U.N. and who ever,
i think we could just drop about 50-100 of the biggest bunker busters
we have, in the right places, then a few 100 missles.
we need to drop pamphlets for about 2 weeks before to give everyone that wants out time to leave. after this we could invite the Isralis
over for a picnic and ask them to keep an eye on the place.

are those of you who advocate nuking the place working for NYMEX speculators?

Such a move would render vast oil and gas fields useless for God knows how long (radiation is a beeyotch).
As the world's most motorized nation we will suffer the most from the fuel shortages and price spikes. Our economy can literally collapse, since so much of our vital cargoes are transported by vehicles which run on petroleum products. Even if the economy manages to stay afloat, is a vendetta against a poopty little country worth living with gas rations or not being able to afford to drive your vehicle?

only the futures traitors (traders) will benefit from the fallout of such action.

So what your saying is nuking Iran would kill 2 birds with one stone, first off it would take care of Iran and 2nd it would be good for the environment by forcing us to use cleaner burning/alternate fuel sources?

Hot diggity this may even get the tree hugger and hippies on board.

I heard on Rush Limbaugh that Newt Gingrich (the real one) had basically the same idea I had.

That Britain needs to first of all sprout a pair, and then behind the scenes, tell Iran they have 30 days to let the prisoners go.

Once 30 days are up and they are not returned, Britain goes in and takes out their one, yes ONE oil refinery they have in the country. They already have to import fuel to supply they're demand, despite having all of the oil.

So, how do they take care of that? You set up a major naval blockade. No oil, no food, nothing gets in. Within a week, every lowlife on up to leadership will be walking.

This approach would require very few casualties, very little colateral damage. I'd bet the prisoners would be returned within the 30 days if this was proposed.

Asking the UN to 'condemn' the action is pretty weak in my book.

What Blair should do is what jimmy no-nuts did not: nuke 'em back into the Stone Age using neutron weapons (minimal radioactive residues). The survivors (and other wannabes) should be able to appreciate the impact of Act II if they don't behave and can grow rich on the oil revenues. It should also give the Syrians and their puppets pause, especially where these terrorist states and organizations are so dependent on those revenues to fund their activities.

There are many Islamic nations which are far different than Western cultures, but they don't operate from the central premise of the Islamo-fascists of Iran and the terrorist organizations. It is long past time to ring down the curtain on this primitive "culture" of 6th Century tribal barbarism which predicates its relationships with the rest of the world on religious fanaticism. Until the modern age, it really didn't matter; but with the personal mobility which allows these vermin to travel world wide with ease and the proliferation of NBC materials, a culture which exalts the destruction of those who don't share their superstitions is a luxury the civilized world can no longer afford.
