why are red hot rods a magnet for leo's
had a five0 try to bust me for not stopping a stop sign on my way to fittness center to work out was in my camaro and its red[:D] I did stop its kind of a blind corner....big tree in the way you have to stick the nose of the car out quiteways to see if anybody is coming.....he just gave me a warning....i did tell him that i did stop but pry could'nt see that with the tree in the way....kinda funny as fast has he whipped his car around on the road....i know he did'nt take the time to look back and see if anybody was right behind him was way more dangerous than even if i would have rolled through a stop sign....oh well kinda funny get busted in the rear going to work out by a guy who looked like he should be working on the treadmill instead of me

LOL!
Well, Camaros are alot more attractive to cops if red. In my moms, we had cops look and turn heads, but never got pulled over. They make things called "back roads" [:D][:D]
What you do is get a chaisaw. and cut the tree down. Problem solved0 -
I've had about a half dozen red cars, and the frequency of getting pulled over is far higher than any other color car I've had.
I think the color draws their attention, they expect aggressive driving, and they pull you over on GP.
Or maybe they are jealous.
What about it, nunn??

Like everybody else on the road, they just notice the red cars more than the others. I can do 45 in a 35 with my old truck and won't get a second look. If you do that around here in a red Camaro the judge will be getting into your pocket.
However, I saw a bright yellow Cobalt this afternoon that will be more of a guaranteed ticket getter than a red Camaro.0 -
I had a bright yellow '79 Capri(Mustang clone) GT V8, 4 speed with loud exhausts, and never once got pulled over.
I get stopped in red cars.

it's not the car. and the younger you are, the more likely you are to get pulled over. they figure they're more likely to give out multiple tickets like speeding and no insurance and no seat belt. that's age discrimination. that's what they do.
I drove several hot rods, none of them were red, and I lost my license twice from too many tickets. one time this cop waited down the street for me to get in my car and pull away from the curb -turning on my headlights as I went- and gave me a ticket for driving without headlights.
then I got a new truck... it was red... didn't change my driving one bit... walla! no more tickets. nothing.

Red cars are known to be bad luck, auto salesman will run for the john when they see a red one comming in to trade. They also look like they are moving fast when sitting still.[;)] 0 -

I believe such cars are considered to be the "assault rifles" of the car world.0 -
Yeah, but Red and Yellow cars get discounts from some insurance agencies. They're more visible.
I was in the Mustang one night just minding my own buisness, doing 5 over and blending into the light traffic. A pair of headlights came flying up on my ass, tailgating me really. I though it looked like a crown vic so I didn't dump it. I just revved it pretty good. He then went shooting around me, yep, a sherrif's deputy. HA, I didn't fall for it. I should have laid down a cloud of smoke right in front of him.
Porsche has had a color called Guards Red for years. I call it, arrest me red.
But, I've never had a problem in my yellow car....

I tihnk its funny to watch the cops sitting in the grass behing a hill on the highway on the other side of the fence, and do burnouts in a parking lot on the side he isnt on. haha0 -
COWDOC,glad you got out of it,or glad you didnt get in to it! nothin like the smell of 115 octane and burning rubber!!!!![:D]LOKO 0 -
I've heard once that red vehicles are more apt to get pulled over as they appear to be going faster than any other color vehicle. It's an illusion thing. 0 -
For the same reasons that bulls charge the matador's red cape.[;)][:D] 0 -
Discount on insurance? Have not see a place on an insurance application for color. Ref: Traffic citations- remember rules 1&2 of the Infantry. Rule 1- If you can be seen, you can be hit. Rule 2- If you can be hit, you can be killed. [^] 0 -

The answer is too simple for some to accept.
It's not the color of the car that causes cops to issue them a higher number of tickets. It's the driving habits of the average person when they get behind the wheel of a red sports car.0 -

You're 100% right, Txs! As I said earlier, it's like a matador waving his red cape in front of the bull's eyes - it gets the bull's attention.[:0]0 -
slowhand, cattle are color blind[;)] but not coppers[:D]
he was a rookie highway patrol never seen him before, pry wrecked his whole day when out steps a nearly 40 yr old guy in gym shorts headed to work out instead of some young punk kid[:D] never asked for proof of insurance or registration lol0 -
I think most cops who see an old car rather look than bust unless you really rip it up. I have a 70 cutlass S with a builr 355 in it. When i was young i thought nothing of getting on it on the street but now being an old fart i really watch where i do my TESTING! 0 -
Because more people will look at a red car than a cop car. It's jealousy, plain and simple. [:p][;)]

I find black cars get you in less trouble .
Not all the time mind you ( [;)] ), I'm not a Saint....
Mind you cubs I'm a fan of guards red , just a little flashy for me .
My boss has one red car and it seems to draw attention more than his black cars , that is by police .
Although there was one time he had made a high speed pass in a black car and heard a noise and stopped to check it out and about 5 minutes later a police car with lights flashing stopped behind him and thanked him for pulling over because the officer felt he would have never caught him .
My boss told him he pulled over because of a noise and didn't know he was back there ( true ) .
He did get a ticket for 79 in a 65 , beats the hell out of 195 in a 65 in a black lambo though......and a trip to jail and an impound on top .

that is why you should have a black hot rod 0 -

I did that in my truck. on the way to a job interview on the hwy, got pulled over for doing 85 in a 65, cop said "it took me 4 minutes to catch up to you!" I did it again, another ticket for 85 in a 65. I said "I already got one! look!" he said "next one and you're going to jail sonny" dang, didn't get the job either. about 230$ in tickets and more points off my license. [:p] 0 -
Wow , I must be getting old .
He owns 2 red cars ( 3 if you count the red Diablo that the shop is selling ).
He bought a red Ford GT last year .
My mind is like a worn clutch , slipping as I get older .

My old truck in my signature now sports a 528ci, 722hp Hemi. I've never been pulled over in it, with my gray hair, gray beard they don't give me a second look. With the old motor it ran very low 12's at the strip, with the new motor it's crazy quick.
My biggest concern now is the 3-1/2" duel exhaust with the DynoMax Ultra-Flows, it's rather loud. Dave0
