Ever See Anything Like This?

This is about a screwy product, near as I can figure. What do you think of it?

"Yep, that is the guy who beat me within an inch of my life. You can tell from the green dye on his face and hands."
-OR-
"Yessir, I believe this is the man who shot my brother. See the dye on him. My brother was known to have carried a can of DyeWitness."0 -
don't they make pepper spray with dye in it also? 0 -
Very similiar to exploding dye packs when bank robbers take the bait money and run out the door by the sensor.
I like it.
But not as much as my HiPower.0 -
Maybe a good idea if it included some kind of chemical that paralyzes the attacker on contact. 0 -
To answer the question, no, I've never seen anything like it before. I agree that it is a dye to mark somebody so you can identify them later.
If somebody is about to beat me within an inch of my life or kill my brother, I'd rather just shoot the son-of-a-bitch and let the forensics dude identify him from my bullet.0 -

That's the point. There is no chemical irritant. The material foams up, and sticks, and imparts color, but there is nothing to incapacitate an antagonist.
Maybe that's why I never heard of it before. Maybe it was a bad idea and the company died. Anyhow, someone might like to own it as a curiosity.0 -
I understnd there is a dye that can be applied to lobster traps. It will only show the color when a black light is shined on it. 0 -
I "googled" it and came up with some pretty interesting links. Looks like it would be a viable alternative to the "pepper spray" stuff you can get a wally world and the like. Retails for $15 at one place I found.

Also...in the AirCanada website, they specifically list "DyeWitness" as not being allowed in checked baggage. Maybe its a hit up North in the land of the defenseless. Also saw links to several companies in Great Britan selling it. Found this one in Australia...

I think you'd have better luck spraying the perp with "silly string!". 0 -
[:D] ha! silly string. that's funny. 0 -
make the corpse easier to spot from the meat wagon after I've shot the SOB, I like [:D] 0 -
bet that would work real good on afros. 0 -
Since guns are dangerous, I just carry several cans of color spray so the police can readily identify the perp:

I have seen it before - didn't know it would foam up though..
But have seen it a few years ago, where it was supposed to have CS-gas too.
The ink-effect was there to mark the attacker and it was hard to get out/wash out the first 7-10 days.
Never heard anything since then...0 -
I can see using something like that in a booby-trap. Where you are not present, cannot legally hurt the perp, but still want to mark him. 0
