no matter who wrote it, it's pure, undistilled, truth. succint and captures the essence of the current paradigm.

    thank you.

Kinda hard to rile up people when the media is PC and controlled by the very people who would do the country harm.
More women and babies on the welfare tit and are told the Democrats will let them stay there while the Republicans won't. Who are they going to vote for? Eventually, there will be enough of them win every election.

Sounds like George Bush. He lies to start an unwinnable war. Wastes trillions of dollars and the price of oil triples. The world is less safe and the terrorists are being recruited by the thousands due to anti-american hatred due to occupation of the middle east.

Yes Sir, the axis of idiots is headed by GW Bush. Bleeding America dry by the trillions of dollars and playing directly into the hands of the wacko islamists.

All in all, I'd say give me a break - it's real easy to be a flag-waving blowhard when you ignore the fact that torture did take place, Bush did lie, and there is no way to win militarily in Iraq. You will note that the progress we made with Sunni insurgents was NOT because they were beaten by us in a series of glorious victories on the battlefield, but because they wanted help against Al Qaeda and other foreigners infesting their neighborhoods - a political accomodation was reached.

And speaking of reaching deals with terrorists, mighty convenient that the good sergeant major left out The Gipper's deal with the ayatollahs - you know, the one where he gave them weapons for hostages? So much for our policy of never dealing with terrorists.

Of course, it's a bit disingenuous to only point out Reagan's dealing with Iran... because that's too limited. Let us not forget that for eight years Reagan extended Iraq credit to buy weapons and expedited numerous requests from Saddam Hussein's government for biological samples and dual-use chemicals.

But let's not stop there. Reagan apparently never saw an Islamic Nazi he didn't want to give goodies to. Or perhaps the good, no-punches-pulled sergeant major conveniently forgot that the Reagan White House also supplied, trained, and equipped the Islamofasc--, oops, "freedom fighters" in Afghanistan. A fellow by the name of Osama Bin Laden was mighty happy that ol' Ronnie was so generous with his aid packages, I'm sure.

As is, I'm not sure I like the hypothesis he's presenting - that if we the American public only remained ignorant of the ugliness of war, we would continue supporting it.

Well, sorry to tell you, but the days of buying crap from our government unseen are long over - if my happy @$$ is paying for it, I damn well want to know what I'm getting. I'm not in the habit of subsidizing anyone's war habit, least of all pampered Zionist neocon chickenhawks with a Napoleon complex. If they want to fight without telling me what, why, when, where, or how, they can do it without spending me and roughly 230 million other Americans into Third World levels of poverty. I don't know about you, but I enjoyed the days when the Canadian dollar wasn't worth as much as ours... call me crazy, but having the dollar plunge in value is not, in my opinion, a good thing...

This entire piece is a preemptive piece of blame-placing and finger-pointing, a latter-day version of the popular German theory of the "knife in the back" after World War I. "Why, if only the American people had believed the half-truths and outright lies and were so uncurious and dull-witted as to believe anything and everything we told them, we'd have won the war! Never mind we went in with too few troops, gave money hand over fist to mercenaries who put us three steps back for every one forward we made; and decided that a perfect strategy would be to declare victory, then fight, then prepare for war."

Give me a break. I know it's not really popular to say this, but the military and their commander in chief screwed the pooch on this one. They went in without a clue as to who they were fighting or for what reason. And when their rhetoric didn't match their results, they immediately cast about for someone to blame and liberals made a convenient target.

Well wake up, people... the GOP handled the war at the beginning, they handled it when things got even worse... hell, they handled it for well over three quarters of the time we've been in Iraq. But now all of a sudden you're trying to blame liberals for it? Are you blind or just stupid? Sheesh...

The difference is that he's a retired Army Command Sergeant Major that writes for Random House, vs unknown faceless armchair commandos posting on an internet site trying to derationalize his message.

For whatever reason, the surge is working and Al Queda's Nazis are moving to Afghanistan. We are winning your "unwinnable war" Mr. Monkey and Mr. Toad.

This statement particularly applies to naysayers:

Yes, I'm questioning your patriotism. Your loyalty ends with self. I'm also questioning why you're stealing air that decent Americans could be breathing. You don't deserve the protection of our men and women in uniform. You need to run away from this war, this country. Leave the war to the people who have the will to see it through and the country to people who are willing to defend it.

    An Axis of Idiots

A RETIRED ARMY COMMAND SERGEANT MAJOR DOES NOT PULL ONE PUNCH. HE ALSO PROVIDES AN INTERESTING REVIEW OF HISTORY AND HIS EVALUATION OF THE QUALITY OF SOME OF OUR CITIZENS IN THE CONGRESS. INTERESTINGLY HE DOES NOT MENTION POLITICAL PARTIES .

A Command Sergeant Major's perspective OR 'The Axis of Idiots'

This is AWESOME. Too bad we don't have more folks on Capitol Hill willing to speak out like this. J.D. Pendry is a retired Army Command Sergeant Major who writes for Random House. HE IS ELOQUENT, and he seldom beats around the bush!

Jimmy Carter, you're the father of the Islamic Nazi movement. You threw the Shah under the bus, welcomed the Ayatollah home, and then lacked the spine to confront the terrorists when they took our embassy and our people hostage. You're the runner-in-chief.

Bill Clinton, you played ring around the Lewinsky while the terrorists were at war with us. You got us into a fight with them in Somalia and then you ran from it. Your weak-willed responses to the USS Cole and the First Trade Center Bombing and Our Embassy Bombings emboldened the killers. Each time you failed to respond adequately, they grew bolder, until 9/11.

John Kerry, dishonesty is your most prominent attribute. You lied about American Soldiers in Vietnam. Your military service, like your life, is more fiction than fact. You've accused our Soldiers of terrorizing women and children in Iraq . You called Iraq the wrong war, wrong place, wrong time, the same words you used to describe Vietnam. You're a fake. You want to run from Iraq and abandon the Iraqis' to murderers just as you did the Vietnamese. Iraq, like Vietnam, is another war that you were for, before you were against it.

John Murtha, you said our military was broken. You said we can't win militarily in Iraq. You accused United States Marines of cold-blooded murder without proof. And said we should redeploy to Okinawa. Okinawa, John? And the Democrats call you their military expert! Are you sure you didn't suffer a traumatic brain injury while you were off building your war hero resume? You're a sad, pitiable, corrupt and washed up politician. You're not a Marine, sir. You wouldn't amount to a good pimple on a real Marine's ass. You're a phony and a disgrace.

Dick Durbin, you accused our Soldiers at Guantanamo of being Nazis, tenders of Soviet style gulags and as bad as the regime of Pol Pot, who murdered two million of his own people after your party abandoned SouthEast Asia to the Communists. Now you want to abandon the Iraqis to the same fate. History was not a good teacher for you, was it? Lord help us! See Dick run.

Ted Kennedy, for days on end you held poster-sized pictures from Abu Grhaib in front of any available television camera. Al Jazeera quoted you sayi n g that Iraqi's torture chambers were open under new management. Did you see the news, Teddy? The Islamic Nazis demonstrate real torture for you again. If you truly supported our troops, you'd show the world poster-sized pictures of that atrocity and demand the annihilation of it. Your legislation stripping support from the South Vietnamese led to a communist victory there. You're a bloated, drunken fool bent on repeating the same historical blunder that turned freedom-seeking people over to homicidal, genocidal maniacs. To paraphrase John Murtha, all while sitting on your wide, gin-soaked rear-end in Washington.

Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, Carl Levine, Barbara Boxer, Diane Feinstein, Russ Feingold, Hillary Clinton, Pat Leahy, Chuck Schumer, et al ad nauseam: Every time you stand in front of television cameras and broadcast to the Islamic Nazis that we went to war because our President lied, that the war is wrong and our Soldiers are torturers, that we should leave Iraq, you give the Islamic butchers - the same ones that tortured and mutilated American Soldiers - cause to think that we'll run away again, and all they have to do is hang on a little longer.

American news media, the New York Times particularly: Each time you publish stories about national defense secrets and our intelligence gathering methods, you become one United with the sub-human pieces of camel dung that torture and mutilate the bodies of American Soldiers. You can't strike up the courage to publish cartoons, but you can help Al Qaeda destroy my country. Actually, you are more dangerous to us than Al Qaeda is. Think about that each time you face Mecca to admire your Pulitzer.

You are America's 'AXIS OF IDIOTS'. Your Collective Stupidity will destroy us. Self-serving politics and terrorist-abetting news scoops are more important to you than our national security or the lives of innocent civilians and Soldiers. It bothers you that defending ourselves gets in the way of your elitist sport of politics and your ignorant editorializing. There is as much blood on your hands as is on the hands of murdering terrorists. Don't ever doubt that. Your frolics will only serve to extend this war as they extended Vietnam. If you want our Soldiers home, as you claim, knock off the crap and try supporting your country ahead of supporting yo ur silly political aims and aiding our enemies.

No, Mr. President, you don't get off the hook, either. Our country has two enemies: Those who want to destroy us from the outside and those who attempt it from within. Your Soldiers are dealing with the outside force. It's your obligation to support them by confronting the AXIS OF IDIOTS.

America must hear it from you that these self-centered people are harming our country, abetting the enemy and endangering our safety. Well up a little anger, please, and channel it toward the appropriate target. You must prosecute those who leak national security secrets to the media. You must prosecute those in the media who knowingly publish those secrets.

    J. D. Pendry

I assume you are not referring to J.D. Pendry...or are you?

Nope. I'm referring to those same people mentioned by Pendry. ALl these people want to limit our rights under the Second Amendment. I say the Second is just as valuable as the First.

Kerry, Durbin, Reid, Pelosi, Kennedy, CLinton, and on an on have taken many liberties with the First Amendment. I dare say, they have abused their Constitutional given rights, but yet we would never think serious limitations on Freedom of Speech, (except on the the radio through FCC regulations and internet which can be regulated because these forms of communications are used by their adversaries.)

These socialist are a threat to America. They clearly have not moderated their extreme views of their youth. They have grown up and become more professional with their presentation. Their condescending superior intellect attitude extends far past President Bush. Listen to these people. They view all of us American citezens as morons and they see their role in Warshington as "leader" is to take care of us.

Socialism sucks. I don't want any part of it. It is still a cousin to communism and totalitarianism.

My morning rant is over. Where's my coffee? Where's my medication?

UN entered Somalia under Bush, US only "provided support" during that time. The fighting began in '93.

I don't think presidents have anything to do with what happened anyways.

What the author should have mentioned is the decision clinton has made and US actions in Europe during the lewinsky ordeal.

Here's what he said about that:

It was also pointed out to me that it was the first President Bush that got us into Somalia. That statement is true for as far as it goes. President Bush sent U.S. Forces to Somalia on a humanitarian aid mission. Their purpose was to ensure food and other supplies sent there to aid starving Somalis got to them and not the warlords. It was a President Clinton mission for Army Rangers and Special Operations Soldiers to capture Adid. President Clinton's Secretary of Defense, Les Aspen, refused these units the Armor support they requested. Support that would have easily broken and extricated them from the ambush where 18 of them died.

"Of course Bill Clinton/EMM was against the war in Iraq from the beginning. It's proven unpopular. It would be different if the war had gone better, as it has in Afghanistan. Bill Clinton's/EMM'S still for that one. There's a phrase for someone who'll stick with you through thick and then and in-between: A man to tie to. Bill Clinton's/EMM'S the opposite. Not only does he disappear when the going gets tough, he was never with you from the first-at least to hear him tell it. With him, history is one of the plastic arts. There is no surer guide to William Jefferson Clinton's/ElMeurtoMonkey's view of the past than what is popular in the present. All of his statements supporting the war in Iraq now have become, in a Nixonian word, inoperative. Down the memory hole they go, as if they'd never been uttered... Bill Clinton/EMM tends to bet for and against any political proposition that involves taking a risk, then recall only the position that proved popular. That way, he can't lose. Principle has nothing to do with it... But never fear, should the long light of history reveal that in the end this long, long struggle in Iraq has bolstered freedom and stability in that always-volatile part of the world, rest assured, Bill Clinton/EMM will have been for it all along." -Paul Greenberg
