I heard somewhere that hunting was in decline is this true.I thought that fireams sales had increased and hunting had gone up in numbers. 0 -
Been out hunting tonight -freezing rain-sleet-snow. Had a spike buck in my cross-hairs for several minutes but let him go. I'm not sure if I was waiting for something bigger, or if it just reminded me of one of my teen-age sons.(oblivious of the world around them). Had a big buck show up, minutes after it was too dark for a safe shot.
I'll try it again about 5 in the morn. I think I must be crazy.
If it ain't broke-it ain't ours!!!0 -
Looks to me like it's declining, compared to when I was a youngster. 0 -
As habitat is eaten up by Humans there are less areas to hunt, Hunting areas have been on the decrease for years now and it has become too much of a problem to find good hunting grounds or you have to pay a fortune to hunt somewhere. Hunting has become big business designed to pull the rich into the "Fenced Hunting Grounds"[:(] 0 -
Numbers of hunters have in fact declined. 0 -
Nationally it may be in decline but locally (Western Colorado) I see more hunters in the woods every year. And those that I see are getting more serious. 15 years ago most people just did day hunts form town. Now everybody is camping out and many are packing camps deep in the back country. 0 -
maybe as fact, as here too Glyn, every body working 60/70 hrs a week to keep there head above water, & no time to play!![:0] 0 -
Hunting license sales are also decreasing because of lack of youth involvement. They are subjected to much more anti-hunting rhetoric
in their environment. I can remember Boys Life magazine with firearms ads in it directed at youth. Thank God for the Boy Scouts, 4-H, the Isaac Walton League and local gun clubs and fish & game departments, etc. that still promote marksmanship, archery, fishing,
camping, etc.0
