    I prefer the M44.

M38. They're a little more rare, they are nicely proportioned (not too long) and they dont have that useless hunk of metal hanging off the side.

The shorter length also makes them handier to use - you can get a sight picture a little faster than using a 91/30.

Shut up troll, you never have anything positive to say.

    Sorry, Jake. I had to.

Since I assume this is a giveaway, I'll take another M44. Aim surplus has them for $69 again if anyone has their C&R and wants one.

Sorry, forgot you wouldn't understand. it was a reference to something that happened here while you were still crapping yellow.

    I will remember you're a lightweight.[}:)]

Relax Jake, we're just messing with you.

Sorry, but I laughed at that last post, then I saw the "THIS IS NOT A GIVEAWAY!", and laughed again.

And while you're remembering that I'm a "lightweight," I'll remember that you'll die sooner and make the world a happier place in the process.

Condition (internally) is everything. Rifling- especially AT THE MUZZLE, and condition of chamber. Bunch of these that have had arsenal refurbs on the market now. 91/30 is a great long range shooter, but big and heavy. The M-38 is a good hunting weapon, and that short stiff action does surprisingly well- especially if you load your own. The 44 is OK, but would prefer the 38- if I need a bayonet, I'll go for my mauser! Would see what is in the best shape and get that one. Spend $30 for your C&R, and these sell for $69 from a wholesaler- but nothing wrong with supporting your local dealer- he needs to eat, too. Check surplusrifle.com for good info on these rifles. Shoot safe and often.

I'm thinking I'm going to get 91/30s. Maybe if I can spare enough money someday, I'll get the sniper variant that John has in one of his catalogs, but that's 400 bucks before dealer markup.

I already have the 91/30 and the M44. Guess I need the M38. What's your dealer asking for the M 38?
