No Ammo Shortage Here
I went to Big 5 and Turners Outdoorsman today and not only did they have plenty of 9mm, .40 and .45 but they were on sale. Also on sale was plenty of .223 and .308. Is it possible the media lied about the ammo shortage and the cause of it being the Iraq war ?

So, what did you give fot them? I just picked up a hundred rounds of Remington JHP, 255 GR in .45 for $35.00. 0 -
Yeah, but how much was it in the bulk? I think the pistol calibers are still around, but 223, 308 and 7.62 seems harder to find at a cheap bulk price.
I don't think the shortage is as bad as people are making it out to be.
I think alot of the problem is when people hear about a shortage and start to buy it all up.
I'm guilty of this myself. When I find a store selling it cheap, I will buy all they have.
Latily I've been able to find it at an okay price.0 -
No shortage if you can pay, Police are having a hard time paying and the delays are hurting them[:(!][V][xx(][:(] 0 -
Yes, the media lied. But, yes there was an ammo "shortage" which caused prices to rise substantially on the most popular brands at many outlets recently. 0 -
wouldnt allowing chinese imports of these calibers erase the problem and lower the price about 65% ?? 0 -
Rescind the executive order signed by Clinton that prohibits surplus ammunition from finding its way to the civilian market.
US troops have to return ammo by the lot number after its storage life is expended. And get a fresh issue. The US then destroys the returned ammo.
Back in the day, we used to be able to buy the surplus. It's amazing what one stroke of the pen can do. Joe0 -
the ammo mfg spent millions lobbying clinton for protectionist laws to prevent imports of ammo. as always the people who get screwed is the general public. you pay more and wait longer. a box of 50 9mm rounds should cost about $2.50 0 -

Perhaps, just perhaps ................... the ammo mfgrs are learning "MARKETING" from the gas/oil companies?????????[?]
you mean by responding to the pressures of supply and demand and raw material cost and not treating their company and their shareholders' money like a charity?0
