THE DREADED "ASSAULT RIFLE"

THE DREADED "ASSAULT RIFLE" term really applies to all rifles if you think about it. First-off the firing mechanism assaults the primer, which resists as it should until it blows up and raises all he!! and then the chamber assaults the casing and tries to contain it. Then the barrel and all those mean little grooves assault the lead projectile as it tries to escape. Then as if that wasn't enuff the butt jerks backward and tries to tear the shooter's shoulder out of its socket and hurl the rest of the poor guy onto the ground. Then it assaults man's ego and dares him to pull the trigger again so it can do its assault thing all over again. I am beginning to really appreciate the true meaning of the term now. I think that any self-respecting rifle would be proud to be remembered as an assault rifle as the politicians haul them off to the incinerator, God forbid! OOPs, can I say God here?
