I have a winchester 290 that some one stripped the finish from the reciever. What do I use to restore it? I heard they electro plated them. So I need input!

  The receiver is an aluminum alloy and was anodized to give it the black finish. Short of having it re-anodized, your only options are a spray on finish. Go to Brownells here:

  Aluma-Hyde, Baking Lacquer, Gun-Kote and Teflon all work great and are very durable when applied per the instructions. Surface preperation of clean, degreased, blasted metal will give you the best results. Without blasting the finiah will usually chip, especially on the sharp edges.
