I was a big D.A.C. fan until I seen him in concert. He was over an hour late showing up because he had been detained by police for some altercation at a casino. Then during the show he began rapping Eminem songs and I left.

He also likes to brag that "take this job and shove it" is his song and not Johnny Paycheck's.

I remember back in the early 70's David hadn't made it yet and was trying to get noticed --- he drove around and slept in an old Cadillac hearse with his name painted on the side. He used to park it on a side street behind the old Grand Ole Opry house in Nashville.

Had a supposedly outlaw copy of DAC "uncensored" until somebody walked off with it. Talk about nasty! [:D]

Yall know he was found livin in a cave in Tennessee recently didntcha?
Seems the IRS really took everything! (including catching him on stage and confiscating his guitar during a show)

Yup, My wife won some tickets to see him earlier this year. was supposed to start at 8:00 he didn't show until 10:30. He didn't play any song all the way through just a few bars and on to the next one. was done playing by about 11:20. glad I didn't pay for the tickets.

I saw him in 1982 and he put on a good show then.
I'm not sure who wrote "Take this Job", but I do recall hearing that some members the country music community rallied around Johnny Paycheck after he was released from prison. And donated songs for his hit album that included "Take this Job" and "Satin Sheets". To give him a new start.

saw him about 4 years ago. the concert was good but he was getting wierd. he won't play his old songs anymorebecause when he got into tax trouble (same tax firm as willie nelson) his lawyer told him to file bankruptcy so he did. what he didn't know is that he lost all his assets including the royalties to his old songs. all the royalties go to the irs, this is why he won't play them. he wrote the words to "take this job and shove it" which johnny paycheck made famous. apparently in an interview paycheck dissed doc and never gave him the credit he deserved.

Paycheck was a loser anyway. His best hits were all written by somebody else.
