That's just plain sick/sad!! 0 -
What state puts 13 year olds in prison with adults? 0 -
The mother, IMHO, needs to revisit Teenage Boys 101. 0 -
dont get me started! 0 -
I think she oughtta go.

That's not a parent, that's a kid picking on a kid.[V] 0 -
Whether or not we agree with the discipline, at least she's trying. 0 -
It was possible the sign was ordered by a judge and NOT the mother....There are a fair number of judges who will make the kld stand on a street corner wearing a sign stating what they did etc....ITs in the news all the time about the judges and a lot of ppl are in favor of the punishment.. 0 -
Personally I see nada thing wrong with this.....
You go mom !!!!
Maybe if dads mother had done this, pop would be sitting there be with his wife....0 -
Now if she could learn to dress him. Don 0 -
Public punishment is MUCH more effective than private punishment.
[rant on]What with todays attitude that a 5 minute "time out" is excessive and damaging to the childs fragile ego [/rant off] it's refreshing to see a parent that's not afraid to actualy provide correctional "guideance" to her child.0 -

Good for her. It may or may not help, but it has a much better chance of success than denial and protecting him from the consequences of his anti-social behavior. 0 -

What's "sad" is being an enabler for her child's criminal conduct.
A little humiliation might do the boy some good...0 -
I agree...at least she is TRYING!!!
If you want to....offer to let him come stay at your home if you think there is a better way.0 -
[8D]-She gets a +++ for even knowing her "DADDY"--

If there was a sure method to raise a good kid then everyone would be doing it. Who ever did this, Mom or Judge, at least tried to help him. I know that if I caught him stealing from me I, or most anyone else, would not be worried about his future, ego or anything else. 0 -
Discipline is part of raising of a child, granted, but humiliating him - presumably in the town he lives - will most likely do more harm than good in the long run.
The boy will probably overcompensate for this embarrassment by becoming a real street-tough inner city thug (gangsta) so as to save face and redeem himself with his friends who by now are taunting the chit out of him.
Mom may feel better by humiliating him in public but the kid is really not learning a life lesson IMO.
I think it would have been better to have the young man work towards full and complete restitution to whomever he stole from and also deny him any nice-to-haves or after school playtime until such time as the debt was paid in full.
Just my 2 cents.0 -
At least she cares about her son's behavior. Looks like the inner city to me. Who know, maybe it will work for him. 0 -
It's unlikely it will do any good, but even less likely it will do any harm. Worth a try. 0 -

How do you know she is not doing both?
If she get on his azz everytime she catches him, he might have a chance.
At least she is not screaming "my baby is innocent" or that he was "set up by the racist police"

ANIMALS!!! No one can convince me that they have a soul. If you hit one accidently with your car, call the ASPCA for "dead animal on the medium".
Now let me get this straight, if you hit a 13 year old boy, who is black, with your car you consider him a dead animal?
Earl, have you ever thought about maybe getting counseling for the hatred for certain people that you seem to have? I understand that you are sort of a lawyer, but that does not mean that you have to be so miserably hateful.0 -

White father makes his 14-year old drug dealer son stand outside with a sign reading "I abused and sold drugs."

Good for her!
99 parents out of 100 do nothing.
This may act as a reminder the next time sonny decides to
break the law again.
Maybe not - but - I can see where some bleeding heart Liberals
around here would cry an ocean of tears over this poor
misunderstood little boy!
Horse crap!
I learned the old fashioned way ... and it was whiz bang winner
for me - although there wasn't any sign ... the neighbors for
a couple blocks around knew exactly what had happened![:0][B)][:0]0 -
obviously not much has been working for today's kids, and she knows her son better than any of us, I'm all for trying anything
you guys whine and cry about the pc crap, and then condemn this because it is not pc0 -
