Remington 700 SPS Varmint
What you guys think about them? They have a fairly decent price on them, but is the stock really cheap, etc.? I was just browsing at them on the internet, but haven't actually seen or held one.

JON,while this rifle of mine is not the sps varmint it is the vssf varmint, and my trigger pull out of the box was 4lbs on a digital model,it is a 308,w/sharp shooter supply muzzle brake,it did help with felt recoil, and also made it loud, i was unaware the triggers were adjustable thats good news,my 243 md 700 is about 9lbs and it sux, the 308 IMHO in vssf is very accurate,at least mine is ,it is heavy right at 9lbs in weight,so i use the harris bi-pod, the h-s precsion stk is probably some of the weight, and alot of the accuracy, the h-s stocks are available as take offs for 200.00 [new] for the varmint barreled guns i have a phone no for them if ya need it or want it, i agree that the sps stock is probably a nice one with the rubber grip pads on it. it would be good for hunting.

I have got a SPS in 22-250 and an an older VSSF (sendero style) 22-250. the sps stock seems a little "cheapy", but you get what you pay for - and i won the sps in a raffle.[:D] the one thing that i really don't like on the stock of the SPS is the deep grooves around the checkering. It gets all kinds of crud in it and you got to scrape it out if it sticks. The trigger is okay out of the box on the sps - i said okay. the action not near as tight/smooth as the VSSF - but then again the VSSF is twice the price (you get what you pay for). Good luck... 0 -
Was just at a local Scheels store and they just got one in. Checked it out and I was impressed, with this one at least. Had a good feel to it in my hands and was balanced decently well for having the heavy 26" barrel. For the price they look to be a good deal. Think I am gonna try one out in the near future in the good ole' .308 maybe[;)]. Will go good with my Ruger Ultralight .308.
By the way, that is a very nice setup you have there LOKO.
